This election has a chance of changing the status quo. It's worth doing.

did you watch the "free and clear" debate, i think it was called, 4 years ago? that was a huge mess of ideological clashing and poor debate skills, and really hard to watch

The electoral college will make all third party voting irrelevant.

kind of. if third party candidates can take enough votes away from one of the two major party candidates, they could flip a state. as improbable as it seems, i would keep my eyes on utah.

and even if it doesnt change the outcome of the overall election, or even any individual states, it could serve as a warning shot to both parties, which you could argue would change the status quo.

"I come before you today, Hillary haters, as one of your standard-bearers. I find her utterly loathsome. I literally wrote a book on her failures — you can buy it for the low, low price of 99 cents on Amazon dot com. I started the first anti-Hillary super PAC of the presidential cycle back in 2013. My bona fides are real.

But here is the painful reality. As truly awful as Hillary Clinton is, Donald Trump is far, FAR worse. It is not even close. Trump is a clear and present danger to our republic. And no matter how deep and abiding your mistrust is of Hillary, you cannot pull the lever for Trump. Let a charter member of the vast, right-wing anti-Clinton conspiracy convince you."

Not to mention the shit you're gonna take after eating those chips. That's the real danger.

To be honest, I can't bring myself to vote for Hillary because of distrust. I don't want to live with the reality of having voted for Trump because he'll probably fuck it all up. Third parties won't win, but I guess that's my option? I want to fulfill my civic duty to vote, but this election feels like there is no good option. Help.

Canadians have "tactical voting because we need to keep out the obviously worst possible choice" as one of our national sports. The joys of FPTP voting in a 3-5 party system.

Have you voted for a major party candidate before? Yes? No? If so, why did you have any reason to trust them over her? Have you ever had a more terrifying candidate than Donald Trump in any of those election? Yes? No? If no, what's the hesitation?

I'd argue Bush Jr., but it wasn't until after he was elected that his terror was clear.

Automatic Runoff Voting is the only one I'll find remotely acceptable. All the people fighting for proportional representation are a) Green supporters or b) Live in Toronto and know they will still get more say in government than they already do.
