Re: Dominion Thread
I apologize.
Setup is extremely money heavy, lots of non-terminal draw cards and not a huge amount of combo. Cards that give money almost directly contribute to deck value, so getting early draw to get into high price action cards is not a bad strat, Smithy being an excellent terminal to start with and use when Smugglers isn't useful. Smugglers is a decent utility terminal to pick up early and use when appropriate, and if you're solid on deck value Sentry is good utility to mix in. Otherwise a game of balancing draw and deck value. This almost certainly entails picking up the non-terminals that give money because they're straight upgrades to coins if you can afford them.

Re: Dominion Thread
Raeko's shitty write ups:
HYDRA USES PEDDLER. The setup we had was great for Peddlers and that card alone carried us to the win. That +1 money makes it just so, so good. Peddler is one of my favourite cards as anyone who played in that game could tell Last night thesunfan pulled it off by making a tough call on when to end the game. It ended up being the correct choice since his buy pushed him ahead by only two points! If the game had continued and someone else got that colony, he wouldn't have won. Nice timing by sunfan on that one And then we played Citadels which was also super fun! It is another card game that I think people from FFR would enjoy. thesunfan was the winner of that game as well |

Re: Dominion Thread
Duchess (2)
Develop (3) Silk Road (4) Highway (5) Mint (5) Vault (5) Border Village (6) Grand Market (6) Bank (7) Peddler (8) Players: Celirra, inDheart, sunfan, [roundbox & raeko Hydra] Notes: I LOST BY ONE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Silk Road is such a fun meme. Highway is too good not to buy. Duchess is actually a really, really bad card imo.

Re: Dominion Thread
Vagrant (2)
Forager (3) Tunnel (3) Jack of all Trades (4) Noble Brigand (4) Haggler (5) Rogue (5) Count (5) Mystic (5) Farmland (6) Players: tiloco, sunfan, inDheart, [roundbox & raeko hydra] Notes: I was wrong about Noble Brigand. It is a lot of fun. But don't take it from me, take it from roundbox. "Noble Brigand is the best card in Dominion. It allows for such multi-faceted gameplay. You can steal silver. You can steal gold. You can mill platinum. Boy, can YOU mill platinum. Its such an interesting card in that it activates itself when you buy it, making people afraid of gaining silver from JOAT in the early game or hardbuying it. So many times this game, we utilized the effects of Noble Brigand to turn this game on its head. Tiloco only won because Tunnel is a cheap, overpowered card. Milling platinum is the best possible outcome, and its very fun and interactive (TM) when I never get to utilize the platinum I got on turn 5. Discarding inDheart's Platinum at the end of the game after getting mystic to activate for the first time is art. Dominion is art. Noble Brigand is ART."

Re: Dominion Thread
Watchtower (3)
Market Square (3) Sage (3) Foretress (4) Ironmonger (4) Quarry (4) Count (5) City (5) Mint (5) Expand (7) players: tiloco, sunfan, Wayward, inDheart notes: Quarry seems to fall under the category of "too good to play with." Ironmonger proved once again to be really strong, as did expand. Tight game, but the copper king, Wayward Vagabond, was able to prevail at the end, gaining a whopping 15 copper through the course of the game.

i kept buying fortresses for the synergy with expand that i never got to use, as well as generating an action and card draw, but i probably used it to buy too much money for my money engine instead of getting victory points, and buying colonies in something like 4/5 of the last turns wasn't enough to win. probably should have switched over using the counts to just grab duchies e: funny thing about tonight is i don't think anyone won off ending the game, it was basically just mercy killing e2: roundbox/raeko hydra pictured here Last edited by inDheart; 08-29-2017 at 12:20 PM.. |

Re: Dominion Thread
You search your hand for an action. You see two possibilities. You could play Jack of All Trades to trash the Estate, but a certain piece of artwork catches your eye. It's a man, bow in hand, prepared to strike. Noble Brigand is the name scrawled on the card. Do you build up your own empire and play efficiently, or do you sacrifice the only bit of humanity you have left?
You play Noble Brigand, soul torn asunder. Your discard pile weeps. |

I still maintain that militia-like cards are more annoying than noble brigand
Or thief
