Re: Um, wow.... I cant believe this happened....
I don't care about what people say. I usually get a good reaction when I play FFR from the students standpoint. But the teachers HATE it!

Re: Um, wow.... I cant believe this happened....
A year or two ago when I used to mash and I thought I was super good, I would do something like FOTBB and get like hundreds of even 1K boo's and people thought I was god. However now I'm FC'ing Uber Rave (Mc'gravel's one for SM) and playing Fury of the Storm and I gather crowds at school during spare. I'm now known as DDR kid then i always reply "DDR sucks, ITGs where it's at" and people have no idea wtf I'm talking about.
Anyway good job...I wish my school had a talent show but I would be way to embarrassed to do it. Also for best results just do something really with easy streams and if you want it to look really hard do what I do...move your whole body and use weird hand gestures to make it look MUCH harder. Also ask who ever is in charge of this stuff if they can have a camera also on your hands. @EnR: Couldn't agree more. Last edited by fido123; 11-10-2007 at 03:39 PM.. |

Re: Um, wow.... I cant believe this happened....
people like it when it's a fast stream, it's almost the most easiest thing to do when you play spread and it's the most impressive

Re: Um, wow.... I cant believe this happened....
In college after freshman year I was the only one that even played anymore, and my friends saw it as just kind of sad that i spent so much time playing it, except they liked the yoshi bonus round when they were drunk =/
And ffr is actually the running gag at the cafeteria lunch table where i work lol. The only time there was all that much awe involved was when i fc'd a few difficult songs while stoned at a friends place. My favorite quote of that night was a friend going, "I can't even put into words what is going on before me."

Re: Um, wow.... I cant believe this happened....
Everything that has to do with rythm or music impresses people easily. I'm a very mediocre pianist, but just playing some easy Chopin waltzes or a few Joplin ragtime songs usually stuns whole crowds of amazed people, wondering at the speed of my fingers and the fact I can play a few minutes of perfectly logical and harmonicly not very challenging music by heart.
Still, sometimes it feels like being a circus artist when people are in awe like that. While the attention might feel good once in a while, I found out most people are quickly bored and generally don't care about you personally, but just like to watch your performance, passing by, enjoying it like they would enjoy a freak show. Sometimes it can actually start a nice conversation, but mostly it seems to create a personal distance to other people, who, from a strange mix of awe and pity, seem extra reserved towards you. As for FFR in specific, certainly in the Netherlands where we don't have many arcade halls and most people have never heard of DDR, SM, FFR, ITG, O2Jam or whatever, many people are amazed by it when I show it to them, but apart from DDR, these games are generally regarded as geeky lol. People are like: "oh wow, fantastic, but that guy must have no life at all, spending so much time abusing his keyboard"

I should do it for a talent show and play Summer -Speedy Mix- or something. EDIT: Just remembered that my teacher is gonna let me play with a projecter behind me and wireless keyboard(either that or the laptop but more than likely the better one =D) in 2nd period when we have free time. EDIT 2(11/19) : Today I played Euro Freak in the computer lab, got 20 goods and missed because the bell rang. But people just surrounded me. And I remember one of my friends(TheRose) came up to me and yelled to everyone: "THIS GUY IS THE FFR KING HERE!" And lol, I'm the best in my town(hell i think my whole county XD)

Re: Um, wow.... I cant believe this happened....
This is what makes me wish I wasn't homeschooled. D=
That would be so freaking awesome. And I think I would awe alot of people. I'm not nearly as good as some of the freaking amazing people on here, but, I can play streams pretty darned well, and songs filled with streams are what I play most often anyway. I find them more fun. Now I wish I still went to school. Just simply because of a situation such as this. |
