Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
I strongly disagree. I think I may enjoy drinking (Not to get drunk) so just because there are idiots who abuse it makes it so nobody can have it? Alcohol has no negative benefits if you drink it responsibly, also they tried making it illegal in the 30's...look how that turned out, mob fights and murders everywhere for the sake of smuggling it.

EDIT: fido, you hit the point. For those that drink it RESPONSIBLY. There aren't enough of those that would to even consider bringing the drinking age down for one. Yeah, outlawing it isn't the smartest idea due to the panic, but I at least would love to see more control over it...after the screwed up schools get fixed.

Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
You can only imagine why they had to smuggle alcohol, right?
It was generally the ones who were addicted, or those looking to make a profit off of those who were addicted. |

Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
They made their profit off of selling it to 'Speakeasies' which were pretty much secret bars. Alcoholics weren't the only one there as people would just go there like it was a normal bar, just a bit more risk involved.

The drinking age is, and has always been, 18 here.

Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
There is no way that alcohol would become illegal. And I really don't think that they should make it illegal just because of some dumb ass kids drinking and driving and getting some innocent people killed. Talk some sense into those retards.

Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
I believe it should stay at 21.
It's 19 here, and I feel it should be raise to 21. No one knows how teenagers will react. Will they really consume less if it's even more available, or will it backfire and accidents increase? I still say it should be illegal for those under 21.

Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
I advocate making the drinking age 18.
Will elaborate if anyone cares.

Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
If there was a draft here, I'd be old enough to go to war.
However I would not be old enough to smoke nor drink. So.

Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
I saw this on CNN. In my opinion, the drinking age should be lowered. Personally, I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. However, I feel like legalizing all of them, including drinking at 18, will cut back on organized crime.

I find the military concept funny. In a short time I'll be going to basic training. I find it funny that I can go to basic and be trained to kill, but can't be sent over to do it.

Re: Drinking age lowered to 18?
I've lived in multiple border cities, including the 19/18 border between Ottawa and Hull, and the 19/21 borders between Windsor and Detroit, and Saulte Ste Marie ON, and MI, and given the sheer number of 19 and 20 year olds who drive over the border to get drunk, many of whom attempt to drive home (drunk) who could have stayed home or within walking/cabbing distance of their house is enough to make me think that you may be mistaken about the suggestion that the higher limit makes less people drive drunk.
