Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
The house music on ffr is house of course. The house music you're probably thinking of is club house music, stuff that's almost on the verge of pop music popular with mainstream music. I would say stuff like Katy Perry's California Girls or Kylie Minogue's Love at First Sight is also house. House music is sort of the bridge between techno and pop.

because pop is nothing like house and house is nothing like pop. and it's not house's fault that more artists are incorporating dominant house elements into there songs now a dayz and Championanwar's ''house'' is more similar to techno than house but eh Oh and house is it's own genre lol just like rock or country

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
I'm not trying to be stupid. House music is a subgenre of techno that's supposedly the most organic and emotional/lyrical. According to wiki the genre descended from disco and "has become infused in mainstream pop and dance music worldwide". According to Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music, house is similarly described as "the most human-sounding" subgenre of techno.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
House isn't a subgenre of anything anymore, maybe a decade ago when it wasn't nearly as popular. But now 'a days House is it's own genre. Because there are sub genre's of house. for example: Fidget house, dirty house, deep house, electro house, etc. But yeah FFR needs some actual house music, like some Benni Benassi, Mau5, Pryda, Markus Schultz, IDK. hell It'd be cool if FFR had some house that i've made but it hasn't happened yet. But once it does it's gonna be sic as fuc
and maybe your thinkin of trance? because trance is generally very emotional and full of lyrics. But idk anymore

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
It's still a subgenre. You can call stuff like fidget house (lol) sub-sub genres. Unless you can actually define to me what exactly turns a subgenre into a genre...popularity doesn't really cut it.
And tbh, finding -that- sort of house music you're talking about which is free to use is pretty hard. I would love to see it happen though. That'd make me happy. |

Saying house and all it's sub genre's are actually sub-sub genre's is quite ignorant of House music and it's success over the years. Kinda like saying country, which is its own genre, is also a sub genre of rock n roll or rock which when you break into it's roots is also a sub genre according to what your saying. but country is its own genre even though it has similar if not the same elements of rock n roll. lol nobody is gonna argue that country is a sub genre of rock n roll. lets just stop being technical ******s and agree to disagree, because at the end of the day anyone can make up some bullshit new type of music and call it whatever they want how about lets just stop being technical ******s about music genre's and just agree to disagree lol And I guess that's just what I think because I only listen to house so of course we would have differing opinions since you don't listen to much of it if u thought it was a blend between pop and techno lol. ohh and I'm gonna look into getting permission for some decent house artists but it always helps to know that people are going to be willing to step it.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
you haven't defined what turns a subgenre into a genre yet
All I see is that you take it as an insult when really I'm just going by definitions and am not actually trying to downplay house's success over the years. And I do listen to it quite a bit. Why don't you actually look at the links. and there's an actual organization that makes genres official Last edited by bmah; 03-4-2011 at 12:05 AM.. |

all comes down to opinion i guess. ask a metal head if they think metal is a sub genre and im guessing that there gonna argue the same thing i am but for metal. I mean sure you can be uber technical and say house is a sub genre, but then you'd also have to be technically fair and declare that other genres of music that are classified as their own genre's to also be sub genre's of whatever music they originated from

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2
I'll pretty much leave it at this to answer the question as to what makes a genre: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_genre
There are multiple ways a genre can have its origins and as you and I found out, it's a contentious issue. The only thing I disliked is that you claim I don't listen to the genre a lot which is untrue. The truth is, interpretations are multidimensional and not just according to what you've listened to. |

Mybad If I offended you Bmah it just didn't seem like you listen to any house when you said it's a cross between techno and pop lol. I've been making house music for almost 3 years now so i just thought that was funny.
