Whoever Ricochet 1 is until I saw the list of names I was super goddamn convinced it was DarkZtar that made it. Otherwise I'm gonna go with XelNya because this chart exudes his energy. No real other reasons.

I wanna say 7 or 8 is Devonin but... I'm not sure. Going with 7 for Dev.

It's so cool to see how different people chart the same thing, how people get so many ideas that just never occured to me.
very cool, very nice

1 - I want to say this is a meme file but a lot of it suggests a less experienced stepper. Ignoring the awful difficulty curve, the biggest issue is not setting up the layering to properly contrast different sounds and sections, like a super quiet section with all jumps/hands.

2 - Fairly tasteful easier file. The layering switch from the synth to percussion early on is way too harsh given the synth is still running. I also found weird how a note was omitted in the ending of each repetition of that recurring synth phrase. Lastly, that section with all jumps was pretty weak (kinda jarring given how good the rest of the file is).

3 - Lots of small mistakes and very unfortunate layering choices. Nothing egregious but overall quite underwhelming.

4 - PR-wise it is a bit wonky and sometimes too literal. Also unnecessarily rigid patterning at times and has some random missed notes. Still very solid and with a clean structure, just lacks an extra push to make it more enjoyable to actually play.

5 - Very questionable decisions in the transitions and fills, and the random split jumptrill is particularly jarring. There's actually some cool ideas going on with the chart, but the execution was weak.

6 - Clean file, though it has some rough spots. My main issue with the approach taken to the section with the grace notes (aside from the last iteration at the very ending with reduced layering). Other than that I just feel it lacks something to make it stand out, everything was serviceable but nothing was particularly great.

7 - Weird cut with the point in the song that chart starts. Not bad by any means but overly simplified for the sake of making an easier file. Also has some weird omitted notes though I guess it makes more sense than in the other files.

8 - Nice meme

Definitely going with 2, though 4 and 6 aren't too far off. Hope it gets some extra polish later as I think it'll make for a great file.

Ricochet 1 - Nice meme

Ricochet 2 - Had me a tiny bit lost at the color theory balance that was happening at the beginning of the file, but majority of the rest of the file performed above par for the course. Pretty good contender. Reminds me a lot of my own stepping.

Ricochet 3 - Definitely think the file here could have used a lot more fleshing out as some sections of the file are missing arrows/beats that are present in other sections of the file, as well as a bit more integrity towards pattern consistency. I'm all for switching up a file for repetition sakes, but there are some massive pattern changes mid-way through repetitive sections that kind of takes away from the experience of the file for me.

Ricochet 4 - I'm really digging the piano grace notes in this specific one, and the color theory balance is pretty hot. Has a couple of sections where I'm getting the same 'missing arrows/beats' vibes as 3, but definitely played down to a minimal amount.

Ricochet 5 - Some noticeable inconsistencies across sections and suggestive patterning in this one that some other versions already reviewed outperform on. Most noticable was the piano grace notes being present in the later half, but not the first half. Agree with Autotelic's take on the [13][24] jumptrill.

Ricochet 6 - Fairly well structured file, wasn't particularly a fan of the white quads on what I would consider 'soft vocals', and the streamlined 3/4 section that contained no breaks in the introduction to the section. Probably what does it in for be in comparison to Ricochet 2 and Ricochet 4.

Ricochet 7 - I think this chart is a great attempt. The cut start was a center-left throw that makes it stand out from other contenders, and there is nothing inherently wrong for it except for a few missing sets of arrows. I think I like the cut on this one more than any other song in this batch.

Ricochet 8 - Made me laugh. Thank you.

This is a very hard pick imo. 6 is pretty close, but 2 and 4 are basically neck and neck. 2 has more chart stability and is more clean/refined, but 4 in my opinion is more fun to play.

Ricochet 1 - Man the easy parts are quite fun, I don't think it's suitable for FFR, but not bad as a dump file I guess.

Ricochet 2 - Solid file, there may have been some ghost jumps, but overall enjoyable and a steady difficulty throughout. Not bad

Ricochet 3 - Man I really really like some things in this file. I think the PR is very solid here, but parallel to that there are also some parts that I thought were not that great. I think the file dragged a little bit. I also thought the layering was a bit all over the place, but then again some parts were fantastic. The ending for example was really nice.

Ricochet 4 - This is great, very little flaws in this chart, big fan of how the sections naturally flowed into eachother and it also has a progressive difficulty curve that didn't feel too jarring

Ricochet 5 - Another solid chart, although I thought 4 was a little more creative I think a file like this could be in FFR right now. It's just a good chart. I do think the [13][24][13][24] prolonged pattern somewhere around 400-500 combo was a bit much though..

Ricochet 6 - I feel the transition in the beginning was hard to follow, you followed the different melody quite abruptly. I thought the rest of the file was good. Although I think it spiked quite heavily in the end.

Ricochet 7 - I like this chart, it's different. It's a more relaxed layering scheme. I do think some of the jumps were questionable though, I also found some missing notes. All in all though not a bad playthrough and I enjoyed it.

Ricochet 8 - LMAO, that was awesome. At first I thought it was just a shorter version of ricochet 7, it turned out quite unique. I actually quite enjoyed it.

My vote goes to 4, since I think it's the most unique file. Some jumps were questionable, but overall I enjoyed it the most.

Ricochet 1 — This chart doesn’t play very well, even when examining this as a technical dump; the decision making behind the 48th note burst choices doesn’t seem to be consistently applied and their transitions into and out of them are quite uncomfortable. Midsection streams don’t really require much of an explanation behind them, it’s just… there and it’s not the most pleasant to play.

Ricochet 2 — Decisions for the song cuts were generally well-conceived, though I do wish a bit more effort was done to actually terminate the song as opposed to concluding on a fade out. Overall, this chart is a respectable attempt at a chart with an approachable difficulty with generally accurate rhythm placement. Noticeable attention is paid to grace note usage to ensure that they continue to correspond to the same two columns when performed in each phrase, which is a nice touch. Pitch relevance could be improved a bit throughout the chart as there are numerous instances of repeated taps that cause a bit of muddling with regards to melodic representation.

Ricochet 3 — This chart definitely has some noticeable polish to it with regards to the nuances within it, but at times the structure of it feels a bit strange to me. I understand the deliberate ignoring of certain elements at times, and understand the decision making behind the mini-jack placement in the more energetic drops, but the repeated taps being on the same column as a melodic element when representing kicks was actually pretty jarring to me on a playability level. The breakdown of 12th notes in the later third of the song around 920 combo was quite a jarring reduction in layering compared to the previous sections; it also made transitioning into the final drop/melodic repetition a bit rougher than it needed to be. I did like the usage of 64ths for the ending, but it wasn’t enough for me.

Ricochet 4 — Pitch relevance needs work at times in this chart, and there are a couple of missed cues for the primary melody. In general, though - the chart is very well done and effectively utilizes tempo changing to provide a good visual experience when the pacing of the song changes. As a whole, the chart feels quite nice to play. However, I think the most commendable thing about this submission is the risk taken specifically on the song cuts. Chopping on the second beat of phrases and grabbing from a different section is often a very risky and noticeable thing, but this song pulls it off nicely and it’s believable, as songs of this genre very frequently have beat 1 lead-ins into a full fledged phrase/drop.

Ricochet 5 — Not too bad. The chart has an acceptable structure that is consistent, explicit and generally effective. I’ve personally got a mixed opinion about the cuts taken here, as I feel there were a mix of good and bad cuts in terms of overall song progression. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the connected mini-jacks between jumps for pitch relevant representation of the layered synths in the drops, but that’s really about the only grievance I think I have on the chart itself. A respectable submission — just not my favorite one.

Ricochet 6 — Quite the abrupt cut into the 12th note drop; it’s certainly one way to cut out the fluff, but I do think it lends your submission a very uneven progression because we don’t get to build to that point. Overall, this chart is alright. It’s not something I would call great, but under no circumstance is this a bad submission either. Pitch relevance needs some work and there are some instances of the melody not appropriately followed. The continued accenting of all instruments with 24th note swing without any sort of grace notes makes the chart feel a bit draggy, even with the cut. The drops also go in and out from being underwhelming due to only accenting snares with jumps, to being a bit overwhelming due to accenting every overlayed 8th note synth in between the swing, which is also a bit of a turnoff to me.

Ricochet 7 — I dig the easier approach overall, and there’s some shining points of representation in the chart with respect to the melody. Patterning could be improved slightly to make it shine a little bit more in terms of pitch relevance and a few jumps were a bit questionable, but this is a solid submission that gives lower level players some love. Commendable, but not my vote.
