I bf'd J&C and Boo Flagged it also. 1 clean on floating hour, 3 clean on Famicom Selecta, and a few more 65+ sdg's or black flags.
Still no oni. I have faith in you.

Re: Basicdrummerman's epic quest for ONI
Lol, don't do demon beast, middie just so happens to be stupid good at the song and given the fmo's you've sdg'ed, demon beast probably wouldn't be a strong point. I'd go for Pure Ruby, just don't play it too often or you can develop some nasty habits, like rushing the 32nd rolls or messing up with the transitions into and out of the 24ths (or rushing them). Are all those scores the first night you've gotten fmo sdg's? If so, dayum...didn't think you would flag as well x.x You might luck out get a aaa soon, however, the road is much more perilous for others like myself, so just pray you don't end up like me and get 10 fmo flags, 4-5 fgo sdg's, and an fmo sdg on like a gazillion fmo before aaa'ing one. :P Also, it seems you're pretty good at JS, give Ambient Angels a try, although some people find that hard to read so don't beat yourself up if you get a terrible score on it.

Re: Basicdrummerman's epic quest for ONI
Good luck! I got it on Midnight Dragon and that's the song I recommend to everyone else. Other than the purple section, it chugs along pretty easily. I didn't know they expanded the range until now. Looking at the files in that range... Epilogue is <1000 notes and is just plain JS and you already have a good score on it. I like Reuben's suggestions too. Your score on Pure Ruby is already so close and Ambient Angels is a bit fast but pretty straightforward.
Maybe give VS Boss Battle a try, or if you're good at streams, Heavenly Spores. If you're good at nerves and bursty stuff and marathons, maybe even October. It's a 75, but I had 2 clean on it before I whored MD for Oni. Maybe you'll get lucky. Just try everything I guess, the range is pretty big now. Seriously consider VS Boss. This is kind of a stretch, but if JS is really a strong point for you... you could try Euro Morroc. It has two things going for it: It's short and contains no nasty tricks. It's dense though.

I also have to throw out my personal Oni unlock: Battle Theme #37. The only tricky part would be the mini jacks. Other than that it's basically broken jumpstream with 2 [12][34] jumptrills thrown in. Not to mention, this was the popular Oni get for a couple months a while back. |

Re: Basicdrummerman's epic quest for ONI
If you want my advice, once you're warmed up, just randomly play songs that you think you can get. Don't whore a single song and get all nervous and mental blocky about it - and don't get too into it and get annoyed when you mess up on a song, because it'll happen when it happens and until then you can rack up some nice scores anyway. I got mine on a song I had six goods on, and several other people have had similar things happen.

BT37's a little fast and a little spiky, plus copymirror. If you can roll and trill, check out Hajnal. There's a color trill around 850 that is totally luck-based, but other than that. |

Re: Basicdrummerman's epic quest for ONI
Like what igr said, just poke around and see what you can do. Don't just poke around the 66's either, go explore the range a little bit; chances are you'll find some files that are "supposedly" harder than the rest that are actually easier for you, I know some people that can AAA things that I can't even FC yet and on other songs, I can sdg and they wouldn't be even able to ddg, everyone has different skill sets.
Also, another bit of advice, try playing hard files (high-fmo's/low-fgo's) that are like a beef-ed up version of the song you are trying to get oni on, that way, when you go to the oni-get file, it'll feel a lot easier :P |

More recently, I went from 4-1-0-1 on La Campanella to AAA (about two years ago) by just randomly playing FGOs. It'll come when you're ready, but don't force it, haha. |

2. PPG is broken jumpstream. Also getting past the rolls, there's the voice jack. That thing is a complete run wrecker I swear. 3. You could get it on EPILOGUE. YES EPILOGUE. Get passed the Intro / 1st jump stream with the retard 16th jump (don't split that mofo, look for it.) Play it on mirror so the trill is on the right hand and the hardest part's PR makes sense. Maybe I'm a little shamelessly promoting though. |

Re: Basicdrummerman's epic quest for ONI
However, if you are a weirdo like me that prefers their one-handed trills on the left hand (even though I am a right-handed person), then don't mirror epilouge :P
