I'd love to get published.

Hell, I'd love for writing to be my career. But the only way that'll happen is if I take up journalism, and there's no way I'll ever sink that low.

Hard to get published? How do you explain the garbage I constantly see topping the NY times bestseller list every month?

And Ender's Game. I wouldn't nearly be so uppity about it if there was some credit given. Hell, even one of the books I'm working on I call, "In the vein of the Great Gatsby, so much as the title character is named Mosby in his honor."

It's not hard to give credit.

My new novel:

Maledictions: The Offering.

Now in Paperback!

Yeah, just put "inspired by" or something. Hell, one book I read admits that it rips off Issac Asimov then laments that so many authors do the same yet never admit it.

I never said I'm not going to give credit because Battle Royale and Ender's Game WERE my inspirations. However, I'm not going to call it a blatant ripoff because it's not.

Also, I know you give me a hard time Mal because you want to see me succeed.

I only write in short-story format. No novel-sized works for me.

There are quite a few publications that publish short stories. Try it out.

I've written quite a bit, but am never completely satisfied. I prefer the abstract, but the last novel I finished seemed too child-like in too many places.
Several times I've gotten offers via e-mail to get published, but if I ever take them up, I want it to be for something I'm truly proud of, and something that doesn't seem too cliche.
Mead, you could probably make an enormous profit by writing short stories only, you have more talent than almost anyone our age that I have read. (And far more than many people older than us, as well.)

Well if you're famous it's easy to get published.

Right on. If you're famous, you don't have to be good anymore. If you're not famous, you have to kick ass. Not that everyone who is famous is a bad writer, but James Patterson doesn't even write all the books with his name on it, you know.

Ever since my accidental brush with fame involving poetry (I'm sure you all know the story by now), I've toyed with the idea of writing professionally. Problem is, I can't do research to save my life. Maybe a book of poems or something having to do about living with Asperger's. Heck, if some 13-year-old kid from the UK (Luke Jackson) can crank out a book, I can do it too.

I never really thought about publishing.. I think my book based upon my tragic experience in Puerto Rico turned out good, but not really good. I might make a book of poetry because I love Shel Silverstein. I might even add my Stepmania poem! That one was great.

I've been told by several people that I should consider becoming a writer. I wouldn't be a bad writer (hehe, a litote) if I really tried. Then again, I'm the only kid I know in my AP US History class to ever get an A on every single essay so far and I usually do them the night before they are due. But I just don't have the patience to consider writing as a career. So all of you future writers can have at it. I would read your work if it were ever published.

I'd love to be published, but my ideas get so big that I get confused, lost, and ultimately, I go blank and can't write.

'Tis a vicious cycle.

For awhile, I've been thinking about writing a book that would show students how to be slackers in school, but achieve to a proficient level. Sadly, to do I'd have to finish school myself.
