Double arrows in FFR vs Stepmania
Hi everyone!
I've started playing FFR for a week or two now. Have you guys ever noticed a difference in the number of double and triple arrows in FFR versus Stepmania? Is there a way to filter them out? They kinda annoy me plus I use FFR at work since it's web based and our keyboard can't handle triple and quadruple arrows. If you know a trick or an artist to avoid songs that have a lot of double arrows, I'd like to know! Thx ;p - Levesky |

Re: Double arrows in FFR vs Stepmania
There's generally more in Stepmania, unless you only play pad files.
FFR doesn't have any mods to edit the chart like Stepmania does, aside from column arrangement modifying mods.

Re: Double arrows in FFR vs Stepmania
I don't think the songs I used to play on stepmania are made for pads, except if your feet can go faster than your fingers lol. The pack I have found at least for stepmania doesn't have this many. Any chance you know an artist I would like?

You can use this tool to find a keysetup that supports holding down four keys simultaneously.

Re: Double arrows in FFR vs Stepmania
i have found that some 4key spreads jam with simultaneous keypresses and some don't. you have to find one that your keyboard supports. try XCNM or QWOP for instance?

I get the impression that this user is probably a one-hander if s/he gravitates to wasd

Re: Double arrows in FFR vs Stepmania
I'll start off by saying 1234 is "left down up right". I think this is according to the buttons used to make stepfiles. I assume OP plays one-handed like me.
I deal with triple arrows (or HANDs) by pressing 124/134 at the same time, which is something my laptop keyboard lets me do. However, when there are the clumps like 123 or 234, I treat it like a double arrow (or JUMPs) and a single arrow. This means 23 & 1 (for 123) and 34 & 2 (for 234). For 123, I press 23 at the same time then quickly slide my fingers left to hit the 1. For 234, I just press the 2 and the 34 with no worries. I deal with quadruple arrows (or QUADs) by treating it like a HAND and a single arrow. This means 123 & 4, touch the 4 then go for the 123. I don't always hit the quads perfectly since my laptop sometimes thinks I'm pressing four arrows at once. I don't know how your keyboard looks like, but I use the numpad (numbers 1, 2, 5, 3 are left, down, up, right respectively) because my arrow keys are too tiny and because my A-Z keys aren't aligned straight like my numpad. |

Re: Double arrows in FFR vs Stepmania
Thanks everyone!
I'm playing with both hands and did changed to WASD. Honnestly, this post was about my deception toward the amount of doubles arrows. I use to play on stepmania and I find FFR having way more doubles and up in their songs. I'm simply not used to it, but fortunately I was able to find a few songs that is balanced |
