Songs of the Week (July 14, 2015)
Champion's Horizon
Musician: WillRock Step Artist: hi19hi19 Song Genre: Rock Difficulty: 70 Song Length: 4:22 Yukidokeiro Flowers Musician: daisan & zue-row Step Artist: Silvuh Song Genre: Dance 2 Difficulty: 50 Song Length: 2:08 sylcmyk's theme Musician: sylcmyk Step Artist: VisD Song Genre: Arcade Difficulty: 69 Song Length: 1:59 EDIT: Whoops, yeah, my head went backwards from June instead of forwards. Haha. Also, this was the first time I did all the converting and stuff myself. Fun stuff! Also, definitely do discuss the difficulties here, because we got a couple of files that are hard for different reasons that are both around 70. Yukidokeiro Flowers is really a 50? I got dunked on when it suddenly became handstream rofl I was not ready for that from a 50.
Also yeah offset -2 issues over here too. All three files are the same -2 off.

I still think that Sylcmyk is easier than Champion's Horizon. I originally considered it a 65 border 66~67. I wonder what others think.

Champion's Horizon looks like a lot of fun, and a really good file for that track which makes me really happy.
I only saw like one thing I didn't like with it, and that was an absence of some grace-like notes somewhere around the 800-900 note range. But I am actually pretty excited to try that come this weekend. Watched the preview and it looks really fun. Disappointed the "Pika" part was cut from the end, but it's totally understandable in this case rofl. Last edited by XelNya; 07-15-2015 at 04:18 AM.. |

If a player has troubles on technical files, this is great practice for it but it is definitely overrated at the moment. I could see this as a 66-67, but more on the former because there isn't much of a difficulty spike if it all besides being consistently technical if you want to SDG this. I may go as far as saying it shouldn't unlock Oni either, but other opinions on the subject would help determine further where it should accurately be placed. In other news, OWA/Haku I'm upset you re-bumped DiS down to 94 :[

Re: Songs of the Week (July 14, 2015)
Champions Horizon is definitely at least a 68, but I think 70 sits to it quite well. Like come on, 4 and a half minutes long and doesn't have only one or two difficult patterns, but much more. Good song, will keep me busy for some time
E: sylcmyk blackflag with 2 tries, I'd like to try it in sm too. Great song! Yeah I agree, could be a 67 or 68

Re: Songs of the Week (July 14, 2015)
I cannot see sylc any lower than 68 given some of the more intricate and technically difficult sections that appear more than once in the file, and knowing similarly structured files like cheerful forest and just why (the first ones that comes to mind but I'm sure there are better examples) are sitting around the same range. Definitely worthy of oni imo but I'll bring it down to 69 for the time being. Can't really infer yet if the rating is grossly inaccurate based on current scores.

Re: Songs of the Week (July 14, 2015)
I removed two frames from all three files, so that should be better now. I had actually added a frame to sylcmyk's theme, because the notes ran earlier than the others for me, so that's at -1 now instead of -2. The previews on the site definitely showed all the notes were late even though I couldn't see it testing offline. Sorry for the delay.

So I cut it :P Champions Horizon at 70 seems really well rated. sylcmyk seems more like a 69 to me, or at the most a 70. Definitely no more than Champion. It's technical and swing-y but never too high NPS or such awkward patterns that it should be so highly rated. I'm fine with it giving Oni, I definitely can't see it lower than 66. btw I found sylcmyk to be really fun. Weird song but the file was great.

Add in some more layering/bs and sylcmyk would be an amazing dumpfile, with interesting rhythms like that.
I loved the rhythms in that file -- the way the purple and blue notes intertwined with the occasional cyan and other colors. |

Yukidokeiro is almost certainly not a 50. Compare it to Seven, it's harder in almost every way. 52 maybe? Like hi19 said the handstream comes out of nowhere lol.
