How many here have a Mental Illness?

Just curious.

I myself have been diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety since 2008. I don't prefer to take medications for it, and haven't since 2009.

I can see this getting out of hand quickly, but I think we're all mature individuals here.

First we should define what constitutes mental illness. Not everyone is aware about the nature of their behavior patterns.

At Times ^^. It's going to be hard to get serious answers here, I've tried. Besides many people (including me) lack the nous and sagacity to make that kind of judgment :/

I'm not really sure if I do or not, its mainly been this past year I've been getting really depressed. But I've had trouble talking to people mostly my whole life and have really bad social/anxiety/self esteem problems... I also feel that everything I do or say, someone is going to judge me and call me a screw-up. Talked to my mom about it but she wants me to handle things on my own instead of talking to a counselor or something.

My mother was worried about me having ADHD when I was little because of the way I would play with my toys.

Active imaginations were a great thing back when I was 7 or so, heh.

Definitely to be in this thread all over the place: people who wrongly self-diagnose with depression.

Though for a long time I used to think at least something was wrong with me, I'm starting to have my doubts on that now. Everybody including my parents and other direct family believed I was autistic because I always put myself in my own world and did not socialize.

What they didn't realize is because my world during those years sucked and there simply was noone I wanted to hang around with. I even got pulled into official tests and stuff because they insisted on my getting medication and stuff for it (which I'd have refused to take anyway; fuck meds). The test gave them a blatant false, which I'm happy with. Now that I'm safe and comfy and sociable at uni, it's pretty much proven I'm not socially retarded whatsoever.

Also, I'd have called myself clinically depressed up and until around two years ago; but like I'm saying in the beginning of this post, wrong diagnoses everywhere. Feeling sad and frustrated, even for a long period of time, does not equal depression.

I was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder in March of 2009.
Post-traumatic stress disorder November 2009.
Major Depression January 2010.
Mild Schizophrenia April 2010.
And had my 2nd operation to remove brain tumors October 2012.
