What next-gen console(s) will you buy??
Quick list of speculated pros and cons, as none of these systems have been shown, this is just what has been told to us so far, and what we can speculate based on the past. I will not be talking about individual console exclusive franchises, as each platform has it's own franchises. Personally I enjoy Nintendo's franchises more, but to keep retarded software flaming to a minimum, specific games will not be discussed.
Revolution: Pros--Most likely will have the cheapest price tag, and games will probably stay at 50 dollars (not certain). Will be wi-fi enabled out of box, and Nintendo is putting the finishing touches on it's own online network which will be FREE to users. Will offer next-gen graphics and sound, but will also offer new devices or new ways to enjoy games. Will be backward compatible. Is supposedly going to be developer friendly. High quality hardware (won't break, durable, excellent customer service) CONS: 3rd party support has not been a strong point of nintendo as of late. No one knows what to expect as for controller input. Finally playing online will be great, but not with a bongo and gyroscope. Reputation (if unfounded) of being overly kid-friendly. PS3: PROS: Will almost certainly be the most powerful out of all of them. Will have online play. Tends to have GREAT third party support. Rumored to be backward compatible (not certain) CONS: Hardware tends not to be as durable, there are often problems. Hardware will most likely cost 300+ dollars at launch, and software will probably be 60 dollars each game not as developer friendly as the others, which ultimately means it may turn some smaller companies off, and may take a while for it to reach it's full potential. Online play will probably NOT be free. X-box 2/Xenon/360: PROS: In the past generation, had the best online play. A main focus is to be developer friendly. All menus/etc... will be the same from game to game Rumored to be backward compatible (not certain) CONS: Hardware will cost 300+ and software will be 60, as well as 'micro-transactions', paying small dollar amounts for unlockable content/downloads. All menus/etc... will be the same from game to game Online play will probably NOT be free. I'm open to editing this list if neutral parties make a good point, and explain it. But what system will you be buying??

Definatly the Revolution just because im an old school nintendo fanatic. And possibly the PS3 just for the library of sickly good games. The new XBox I could just rely on my brother to buy and play that.

we are not talking about the x-box. we are talking about the xenon, which admittedly is going to have considerably less powerful graphics than ps3.

RE: What next-gen console(s) will you buy??
I would immediately say PS3, just because, but it really depends on 1) will it break after a month and 2) will the Revolution have a retarded controller. The free netplay and all this crazy stuff about the Revolution sounds really good, but I'll have to wait and see. Really, this topic is stupid. None of them are out yet, so how are we supposed to know which we'll get?

So it looks like I'll be getting a Revolution since it will continue Nintendo's trend of putting out the best games on the best console. The graphics are RUMORED (unlikely, even) to be 512mb. Gamecube had the best graphics at 128; so throwing in a 512 will just be insane. Either way, they are in direct correlation with ATI on this matter. I expect an X800 minimum. Plus, it's Nintendo. I love these guys. And you just know there will be a Zelda game for it that will own even the new one coming out soon. ~Squeek PS - Link - AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That isn't oldschool. I have a working Atari that I played when I was 5. I have 3 NES consoles and 150 games for it. I even have some Windows 3.11 games on 5" floppies. |

I'll get the Nintendo Revolution and the PS3. The XBOX2 will be as worthless as the first.

well falcon your first post was inappropriate because you didn't give any reasons for what you said. just saying "x-box all the way" is a worthless and annoying post. Saying "x-box has better graphics and games" is also pointless, because we're talking about xenon, which is admittedly going to have less powerful graphics than the PS3...and it's rumored it'll be much less powerful, but only time will tell. so tell us why you're going to buy a xenon? if it's halo, then please don't tell us

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: What next-gen console(s) will you buy??
I voted for the PS3, though that may not be the case.
I'm not one who goes out and buys a game system the day it comes out. I usually wait a few months or year before I fork out the money for a game system. The Playstation has been nice to me, so I have no reason to hate on it. I have two (working) PS2 consoles, one modded, the other the Slim version. Both work fine. Nintendo, i'm not a fan. But that doesnt mean it wont kick ass. It might just to that...so, meh. I'm undecided. |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: What next-gen console(s) will you buy??
I honestly don't see the need for a next gen system at this point. Graphics can only go so far, and I'm not willing to pay 300 dollars for prettier graphics and better physics. These are not what make a game good at all, they only add to immersion to the game itself.
Like Jewpin, I tend to be 'behind' on the console buying. It's much better financial-wise, and I doubt the better games will be out for these systems for a while. By the time I buy a new gen system (if I even plan to), the system will likely be 175 dollars or less, and the good games will be available as 'used', making for a much cheaper gaming experience. |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: What next-gen console(s) will you buy??
Iwata has said many times that next-gen consoles can't just be improved graphics and better physics, Lupin. Revolution will incorporate so many more things than just that.
As for PS3 and Xbox2 (this time it's personal), who knows... ~Squeek |

I just wish there were more people who thought like you lupin...get some more innovation into the industry...and not just touch screens, microphones, and gyroscopes...which still seem a bit gimmicky...
