It would make more sense for people who read right-to-left I guess.

It wouldn't be that weird. Lots of side scrolling platformers have at least one level that scrolls the opposite way. One thing to notice though, is that the direction of the level would always loop back around.

So basically, the level would look something like this:

Left to right is normal for most of us because that is how most text is printed. Unless you are fluent in some arabic language, or sanscript or something, this is the way your eyes naturally go. It would be very odd, and I think that everyone's reaction time would be slightly hindered.
