Re: Tought it was hard on FFR ?
I like kissin's more.
EDIT: ninja'd O.o But they both play it very good. I'm definitely going to his concert in April. Don't even care if it's in Montreal.

Re: Tought it was hard on FFR ?
I hate Li's rendition to be honest :/
On top of that, I hate how Steinway pianos sound in general (not as much as Faziolis though) The one Zierg posted (Kissin) is more emotional than technical in terms of playing style. |

Re: Tought it was hard on FFR ?
Yeah guys, try playing FFR on weighted keys. xD
Edit: Please tell me that in Kissin's rendition, i'm not the only one who notice the sweat dripping at 3:41.

Re: Tought it was hard on FFR ?
they were both sweating, it shows how much emotion they put into it as well as how tiring it is

This has nothing to do with emotion. La Campanella is an extremely complicated piece and pretty much anyone who attempts to play such piece at a concert is bound to at least sweat.

But sweating has nothing to do with emotion.

Ever had sweaty palms? Ever felt the need to exert yourself? Ever done anything ever? You did it all with emotion. Last edited by Attractive; 11-13-2011 at 04:04 PM.. Reason: too cocky |

Sweating could be caused subconsciously from, say, intense movement such as running; this is an example of emotion not playing a role in sweating. In this case of piano players, it is subjective - a person could presume the performer sweats from emotions while another person could presume the performer sweats from physically-intensive playing or burning overhead lights. I stand corrected: I was wrong to say it has nothing to do with emotions. Then again, it is not always caused by emotions. ITT: We talk about sweat. |

Sweat = pores crying
crying = emotion Therefore, sweat = emotion \o/

Re: Tought it was hard on FFR ?
VALENTINA LISITSA #1 PIANIST
I agree she doesn't do some interpretations as well as other pianists but she seriously has the best technique ever, I'm constantly amazed. Extra points for looking somewhat dignified in this video despite wearing the worst pink dress known to mankind... never said she was a fashionista lol The main challenge of this piece is not the trills, unlike in FFR (pianists of this level have drilled trilling that fast a million times over already) Really it has quite difficult left hand jumps, that's what is the hardest for me so far. The right hand jumps are less of an issue for me- though they are absurdly difficult to play at speed as well. Haven't gotten to the "jack section" of repeated note melody but I am sure I will have issue with that too- that's a technique I've never been good at. I will learn this piece someday. Working through it very slowly and carefully...
