Difficulty levels in FFR simfile database
In the simfile database on this website, I noticed some songs had ratings way above 13. I saw several songs rated 20, one rated 27, and one rated 127. No song can be 114 levels above Pandemonium expert unless it's like a 10000bpm joke file with 16384th notes.
I assume the ratings work as follows: 1-10: like DDR 1-10 footers 11-13: like ITG expert/ easy keyboard 14-16: intermediate kb 17-20: expert kb 21-30: nearly impossible kb 31+: joke file. Are there any standards to rate by or do people just say "i think I'll make this a 41"? |

Re: Difficulty levels in FFR simfile database
There are no standards for difficulty ratings. It is now has a generally obsolete function except in the case of pad files. Also, ITG ratings are incomparable to keyboard ratings. Many keyboard files that are given ratings of 10-13 are impossible on pad (well, impossible as far as I'm concerned).
Stepfiles are generally not rated anything above 14, especially because that's as high as you can rate a file using the SMEditor. |

Re: Difficulty levels in FFR simfile database
A good system I use for keyboard files is if the song is as hard as a certain standard. Here are some standards I have:
Difficulty 10: Max 300 (paddable but difficult) Difficulty 11: Delirium Difficulty 12: One More Lovely Difficulty 13: Strangeprogram, X-rated Videos Difficulty 14: Reality Difficulty 15: #est heavy, My Spirit Will Go On Difficulty 16: Death Reveals, Disregard Difficulty 17: WTF, Death Moon edit Difficulty 18: Only Nima can pass Difficulty 19 and up: LOLOLOLOLOLOZOMG These are just guidelines that I like to follow. I don't think these files actually have those difficulties, and the difficulty also depends on play style and preference. Most serious keyboard files lie inbetween 11 and 14 (sometimes 15). I've never really played pad steps outside of FFR on a keyboard so I wouldn't know about them. Oh, and I believe you can rate files up to 15 in the editor. I don't recall going into the sm file to change my Trisection oni difficulty to 15.
