I love my browns, granted I'm not on their level either. Mine's a das keyboard and it's a very solid keyboard. But you can probably find what you need for a bit cheaper. Staiain seems to like the Qpad keyboards.

just would like to mention that my scoredump was very literally the first time I've ever used browns, haha.

blues actually have some advantages for stamina building/accuracy building too in my personal experience, though i'm not sure if others can vouch for that.

if you think a special keyboard will get you to D7, save your money

optimize your play before trying to optimize your peripherals; I was near AAAing low 90s on a rubber dome (K120 represent)

and I know that might have been a joke question, but I'm answering very seriously: figure out how you are as a player first before potentially spending a ton of money on something that might not yield the dividends that you are expecting

I'm currently playing on my laptop keyboard which loves ghosting boos and is really just shitty to play on in general. I just want someone more educated than me on keyboards to give me the OK before i drop 150 on a good keyboard. And i mean, i need a nice keyboard anyways for my other games so, I have the money, i just dont wanna buy a bad keyboard.

most mechs will do you great for other games; and yeah, if you need something to replace already faulty equipment, then it's not a bad investment -- i'm not the most versed in mechanical keyboards, but I had pretty good success with my CM Storm Quickfire TK with Cherry MX Blues; the keyboard feels reasonably sturdy and there's a rather satisfying actuation response since you get some audible feedback on the release (for those of you learning osu!mania and trying to learn LN timing, my blues helped me tremendously for fine tuning)

you're doing the right thing surveying the users in the community though; it's not a decision that should be made lightly since it can be considered a bit more of a higher ticket purchase at over $100, in many cases

I wonder if someone will try electrostatic switches soon (Topre). It's out since a while and prices are starting to lower. They're supposed to help a lot on Stamina and are made especially for long typing sessions. I think they would help immensely on hard files, but I wouldn't see a beginner or even mid-tier player consider getting one. It's mostly for anyone D7 and higher I'd assume?

ps: I don't know about you, but my keyboard is carrying me hard skill-wise. I'd drop 2-3 divisions easily with a normal keyboard. Skill matters, but I wouldn't say it's as important as you suggest it unless you're at the top end of the ladder.

this

I use below to play (and it actually snagged me the 89 AAA to be promoted into D7) so it is entirely not the hardware you are using it is you entirely as a player to get there (at this point finding a keyboard is merely the preference at which you are comfortable to play on)

Rubber dome for life

Sidenote: I've never once touched or used a mechanical keyboard yet so performance wise I have no clue other than what I've heard (browns having the best if you're looking for a mech) though honestly I feel outdated gear works on FFR the best. Old keyboards such as above and a solid early 2000s dell desktop probably runs FFR in the most optimal way possible.

Reds are like typing on water so though you will get a serious speed boost, controlling it is a whole other story (cb rush city). I have been using my current keyboard since 2012 but it's running out of usable setups and typing is a bitch due to doubletap issues.

I've tried browns on a few keyboards and they are great for the most part, it just so happens that the one I bought for myself was awful I guess.

Really want to try blues for the high click-clack value but I have no personal experience.

Used rubber dome keyboards for many years before I got my mech and they really limit your speed/stamina, at least over time they do since the setups get very rigid (last forever though).

Scissor Switches (laptops) have a neat feel because they go from no actuation to bottoming out pretty well instantly and getting back up to the rest position is also lightning fast. In my experience these were the best for vibrating because you could never run into a "floating" problem where the key is only half released and won't register some movements you think should be presses, it always makes it back to start position. I could never time well on laptops though so meh.
