Re: TWG Penalty Thread
Oh my god, Red Blaster.
Look, I don't know why when people start calling you out you get all defensive and sprout that you're done with this website or whatever and other shenanigans. That just leaves a bad taste and no one likes a bad taste. Yuck So just... calm down, think about why threatening with a PM is bad in TWG (Even if it's a joke as you claim...) and all will be good. Okay? Okay. Now give me a hug! |

Re: TWG Penalty Thread
My opinion is that he shouldn't be permabanned for it this time around. If actually posting his role pm is 2 infractions, then threatening to would be 1...
I don't know how much he's done this before, and since I'm new I really don't have a lot of say in the matter. But he should get another chance, at least one more.

owned
can we start giving out infractions for ppl self-voting unless they're doing it as a gambit or as a play (ie hammering yourself in a game with no night talk as a wolf to stop conversation) |

Re: TWG Penalty Thread
ok if we're giving out infractions for self-voting I don't approve of that at all
albeit there are few situations where it is good to do so, it technically has strategy, although I think people do it in really stupid ways it shouldn't give a penalty at all. and since Red played the "this isn't the only place I can play TWG," which is true, remember that what you do carries over to other forums. DM has warned other communities about certain players joining their games and vis versa. Yeah you could probably find another place if you get perma'd here, but if you didn't learn anything from the perma then you're likely just going to end up repeating the charade. Tl;dr be good. You're fine enough outside of doing what you're doing, and you make the bed you lie in. Don't make things worse than they have to be for you. PS hope the situation works out better for you.

Re: TWG Penalty Thread
Isn't it safe to say that we all know what self voting does/is capable in a game? Generally, even though it isn't role indicative of a player, the playerbase is disgusted when dealing with someone who self votes but the situation may vary on when the best and worst times to do such is.
Like if you're in a 3way, town-aligned and self then it would be grounds for GT I would assume, but if you're in any phase except for a 3way then it should be viable. Selfing to me seems like a good way to score poor attitudes about it, hammering yourself if you're pretty much an outed wolf and have no solid way of arguing your alignment, or even (and I haven't seen this in a game yet) give the hammer to the clear/PR (I think the reason this doesn't happen is because there is no situation where 2 votes = insta except for a 3way, and wolves could throw votes on someone else, though that would be scummy all on it's own). idk food for thought take it or laugh at it

Re: TWG Penalty Thread
you guys have to really get over the fact you can't control how people will play the game - banning self-votes is stupid and ignorant regulation because you're trying to normalize how the game should be played.
The only things that should not be allowed are actions that take the players away from the setting. Examples of these are: posting your PM and forfeiting the game without help of the host before you're the last red (although I'd argue forfeiting should always be through the host). TWG is about lying, analyzing behavior and positioning. You can't tell me not to vote for myself just because you don't know what to do when you see me vote for myself. |

Re: TWG Penalty Thread
It's the equivalent of saying 'vigi's should never vigi another power role if they know who that power role is because it's bad for humans!'
Which is bullshit because I should always have the option to vigi the seer if I want to. |

and lack of participation should be extremely discouraged and not seen as a viable strategy either

Re: TWG Penalty Thread
but it's something a host needs to suggest if they want it and make it clear when their game is being voted
