Final Fantasy 13
Finally has a release date for March 9th, 2010. I've been waiting for this game to come out for so long, and when it does I will wipe the dust off my xbox 360 and enjoy!
What about you? Looking forward to this game? |

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I didn't know they ever made them for xbox. Is this one only on the 360 and ps3?

Re: Final Fantasy 13
Leona Lewis did a song for it. I'll probably get it, even though I won't have time to play it. I will just sit on my shelf looking pretty while it collects dust.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
Everything looks well done, except they have a horrendous battle system again. It's a mash up of what they had in 12 and what Valkyrie Profile and Tales series have been doing for a long time. I hate those battle systems.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I've enjoyed the FF series for the most part (didn't play the MMO and I didn't enjoy X-2), so I'm pretty eager for this one.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I don't mind the real time fighting systems, but most of the games are too dependent on them for unlocking titles and bonuses and tons of random ****. I'm pretty good at them but I find the game that does have real time fighting, really abuse the fact that above all else, the fighting needs to be mastered and makes the game fcking boring. That's why Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Symphonia and all that other stuff I own is 1/4 or barely 1/2 through before I got bored of the fighting system.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
That's a strange reason for not liking real time fighting. It seems to me that if anything, turn-based would appear to be more "boring" since you're not actively fighting something, just taking your sweet time to issue a command and then it's performed for you. You say that in real time fighting, it forces you to master fighting, but can't the same be said about turn-based? I'm not trying to be an ass or anything (I actually prefer turn-based as well ) - I'm just a little confused with your post.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
if they're going to make this another cheesy mainstream story with no appeal and/or depth at all then screw ff.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
Hopefully this will revive the series... Ever since FF8 I think the series has been going downhill.

You just confused me about my own post now, I'll try to clear it up rofl. Turn based is obviously the original style in most cases, I love it and would love more of it. Real time fighting is great, I don't mind pressing directional commands to use skills and bringing up a menu every few seconds to cast spells and use items, I just don't like how incredibly difficult it is to progress in the game without being great based on combo's and what not to gain better titles and make the game more enjoyable. Basically it's fun, but it sucks at the same time. I love ALL Tales games, characters are great, story is great, everything about the games are so interesting but how much effort it requires you to be good at the fighting turns me off from playing. I've seen hundreds of videos with people combo'ing the hell out of monsters in the hundreds with ease and unlocking titles like it was a joke, I just really couldn't do it as hard as I tried and it pisses me off cause if there's one thing I love to do is play games. Oh well, maybe I'll try picking up where I left off in Tales or Valkyrie and see what happens cause until I get good at comboing and being able to time CPU attacks and spells and crap no future games of the sort will be fun for me. ps. The series died after 9 for me. 9 was a blast, and really kept the fantasy aspect of the game intact.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I know this is a really outdated thread since the game's been out for a year now...but honestly, this is one of the best Final Fantasy games out there (and I've played through all of them except V and VIII)
Sure, the battle system is a huge turn from the turn based/atb system that I'm used to...but the paradigm system is so fresh, and it's actually pretty fun to use too. I haven't beat the game yet though, and one thing I fear is that all the characters in the game will be carbon copies of each other like they were in XII. Still...this is my favorite FF game to this date. I don't get why people hate it so much. Yeah, the story is a little bland, but let's face it: When you've done so many games for one franchise, you can't really help but write the same "save the world" plot with a few variations. Shouldn't discourage anyone from enjoying it. So um...post reviews/critiques? lol Last edited by A2P; 06-10-2011 at 12:06 PM.. |

Re: Final Fantasy 13
I like this paradigm system better than FF10's sphere grid system, just because it requires more strategy to play one specific class rather than having everything, but the story is a little bland as you said it.

Re: Final Fantasy 13
FF11's battle and party system is what brought the battle system in 12 and 13
