New Veteran Status - Opinions?

I don't know about anyone else, but I keep reading "Veteran Status" as "Venetian Snares".

I like devonin's idea on the 7 years = veteran ; 1 year = GTS/posts.

But I think it would be easier if there were a BUNCH of factors that could contribute, like say there's a point-based scale where you would need 1000 to become veteran. There could be factors such as:

Every 1 billion GTS = 100 points
Every 1000 forum posts = 150 points
Every 6 months on the site = 150 points
Every 5000 FFR Games played = 150 points
Every token (skill/reg) = 15 points
Maybe something for profile votes or MP games

I think it should be a high points goal with a ton of possibilities. This way, the amount of work is more equal. If someone plays the game a ton and doesn't go on the forums, they could rely on the game metrics of the point scale and they wouldn't have to go whore posts in the forums. If someone's more social and on the forums, they could obtain Veteran Status by racking up points with posts/profiles and wouldn't have to play the game if they don't want.

Subtracting from 7 years just seems odd to me, but the concept is great.

Oh, and additional rewards for people who rock the forums and the game

Aperson intended it to not be an exclusive group that people can't get into. It's just a little reward for being moderately interested in the game for a reasonable amount of time.

Seems pretty one-sided IMO. Say someone got 3 years and 3 billion GTS on the money. This would award Veteran Status to them by Rubix, devonin, and my own standards. But with mine, you could make up for that 3 year gap by gaining more knowledge of the game by playing more, or becoming more social and posting more. It's just not as restricted to YOU MUST have 3 years and YOU MUST get 3 billion GTS. Instead you could have 4 years, 2 billion gts, 30 skill tokens, and 1000 forum posts, or 2 years, 8 billion GTS, 10k gameplays, etc.

Look how "complicated" everything else is on this site. Skill tokens for instance are based on certain achievements in songs and have many criteria, but we don't find those insanely difficult do we?

The more rounded the opportunities to get Vet, the merrier IMO.

No your idea is just bad, IMO. How about we add 2.5 points per login as well? See all that's probably a real pain to code, why not just keep it simple? It's just a silly status anyway.

Well, I feel like 3 years may be a little too short and 3b a little too small of an amount. I'm not asking it to be like 6 years and like 11b with this and that. That would most likely discourage people. However, I feel like this isn't really an accomplishment, much. Maybe I'm just biased though.

The best solution to use, in my opinion, would to just have two different types of veterans: Game Veterans, and Forum Veterans. The constant factor between the two would be longevity on the site (so you could attain either with the same join date), but the secondary factors from both would be either GTS or forum posts.

So:

Game Veteran - x amount of years on the site, y Grand Total Score

Forum Veteran - x amount of years on the site, z Forum Posts

This would be the easiest route to take. If there were different "tiers" for the veteran statuses, it would still be fairly simplistic:

Game Veteran:
Tier 1 - x+2 years, y+2 score
Tier 2 - x+1 years, y+1 score
Tier 3 - x years, y score

Forum Veteran:
Tier 1 - x+2 years, z+2 forum posts
Tier 2 - x+1 years, z+1 forum posts
Tier 3 - x years, z forum posts

The above was just a simple example of a tier system, if people wanted that at all. The bottom amount would be Tier 3 (Or Bronze, etc) with the standard x amount of years, and y score/z posts. Tier 2 would be those both adding 1 (1 year for x, 1 billion for y, or 1000 for forum posts, as an example). Tier 1 would be the highest, and would be the same as the aforementioned example plus 2 (2 years added for x, 2 billion for y, 2000 posts for z).

This is really just my take on the whole issue and how you could go about doing the system.

In summation:

• Either just have the regular veterans, split into the two categories:
  • Game Veteran - x amount of years on the site, y Grand Total Score
    
    Forum Veteran - x amount of years on the site, z Forum Posts
• Or have the Game/Forum Veterans Split into tiers:
  • Game Veteran:
    Tier 1 - x+2 years, y+2 score
    Tier 2 - x+1 years, y+1 score
    Tier 3 - x years, y score
    
    Forum Veteran:
    Tier 1 - x+2 years, z+2 forum posts
    Tier 2 - x+1 years, z+1 forum posts
    Tier 3 - x years, z forum posts

EDIT: Granted, this is if you wanted to use forum posts and GTS. If not, join date only would be fine.

I'm not arguing & saying take away my veteran status, but how did I get it? I have 18.6bil score & 2.94 years. So technically I wouldn't qualify because I don't have 3 years right?

Everyone is trying to redevelopment the system rather than just give an opinion and advice. We are not in charge of changing or abolishing it. I think everyone forgets that.

In any case, I still stick with just making every aspect of FFR a factor. Any other way to obtain the status is determined by an Admin.

Dunno if this was mentioned before or not, but right now it's you have to get either 3 years or 3 billion points, I think it should be both or only 3 billion points.

Other than that, whoever gets it deserves it.
