All non-essential businesses have been ordered to close in my province. Everyone at my firm was instructed to work from home until May 1st, but this will likely be extended as officials predict a peak in late April. Despite being able to work from home, our firm has suffered an exceptionally low client acquisition/retention rate, leaving us with no work.

The government reported that a million people signed up for unemployment benefits in the last week alone, so Canada has nearly doubled its original $27bn stimulus package by instead offering $52bn to those affected. Canadians can expect $2,000 a month for the next four months if they've been affected by the virus. Other measures to protect Canadians have been put in place - the government has now ordered that student loan and mortgage repayments be deferred for a six month period, while the provincial government in Alberta (among others) has declared it unlawful to evict a tenant on the basis of non-payment starting April 1st. This is expected to last for the duration of our health emergency.

God seeing so many places do things in response and then hearing how Arizona is not only barely doing anything, but is trying to undo what little it's done. And now there's a tussle over Flagstaff's mayor telling salons to close; not by residents but from mayors of other towns outside of the county.

Had to go to the grocery store again today (the same one that had 2 separate shoplifting attempts in the same visit) and there was still no toilet paper on the shelves over here. Completely barren, except for some napkin serviettes.

Cashiers had gloves, and a blast shield between themselves and customers (those thick plastic shields that are at transit service desks if y'all know what I mean). There's super-imposed limits on all products that people can purchase, per order, per customer, per day.

Completely barren outside. Was diagonal walking across what used to be busy 4-way intersections downtown to get to the grocery store.

I work for a large printing company that has over 70 locations across Canada and currently only about 15 branches remain operational at the moment while all the others have closed, since they're non-essential. I'm currently working at one of the only operational branches right now because it was deemed "essential" by head office, just working reduced hours (7 hour days instead of the usual 8), short-staffed, and being closed from the public.

I've been doing a lot of emergency COVID-19 related printing and design work, although I'm running around like a headless chicken because I have to manage administration, designing, printing, and finishing since my branch is short-staffed (coworkers being in mandatory quarantine and my manager is working from home).

At any day, this could change and head office could order my branch to close its doors, if there's absolutely 0 work coming in. At the moment, it's a day-by-day as most of the closed branches in the area are forwarding their orders to my branch and some days I'm just simply overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do, and unfortunately I don't have the option of working from home.

My workplace is located in the lobby of a big office building, and every business has closed their doors or shut down. There was actually a confirmed positive case in my building, but I guess the good news to come out of that is that it was a one-time visitor that was only in the building for a couple hours a couple weeks ago. Since then, the property management have taken extensive sanitation measures and currently the building is on lock down from the public, only allowing employees into the building. Still though, that's a scare that's a little too close for comfort, considering I'm still going into the office every weekday for the time being...

The window gets smaller and smaller every day with this whole coronavirus thing making waves. We got places that are essential to keep the economy going. But if you've been paying attention, the US economy has almost crashed at this point. Don't get me wrong - I love seeing reduced gas prices since they haven't been this low since at least Y2K.

I saw an article about many essential stores might having to be forced to increase prices on everything due to the panic buying. This isn't very relatable, but I got a Monster from Dollar General yesterday, and they're normally two bucks even. They upped the price by 10 cents, which isn't much, but I can connect the dots to say that they ARE increasing the prices on some things.

I'm not typically a very angry person, but everything I've been seeing about the virus has put me in a very negative mood, and I think I've mentioned that before.

Same at my grocery store. There's also a guard at the entrance making sure people don't crowd the entrance and another employee asking if you've been out of the country recently or have been experiencing symptoms. We also had TP stocked pretty well.

Try going to CVS or Walgreens. They have single roll and I'm pretty sure mine isn't the only one allowing people to only take one at a time. It's pretty much been the only place I can find any. It's insane.

I am sure you didn't mean to imply this, but the way these two thoughts are juxtaposed initially gave me the impression that your biggest priority and your greatest sense of emotion amid this pandemic comes from the fact that you have to pay an extra ten cents for a Monster. Again, I'm sure you didn't intend to send forth that sentiment, but things don't look favorable for you when people are losing income and dying and you are talking about a 5% price hike on an inconsequential luxury.
That being said, discussing such grim matters is probably redundant at this point. I'm not really sure what else we can say on that matter that hasn't already been exhausted, so maybe I'm just being preachy.

The grocery store I talked about didn't have a security guard this time in it. Might be because I went there at like 8am in the morning, in the rain, when I didn't want it to be massively busy. But, there was a guy at the front door managing carts for free (you didn't have to put a quarter in them) and was sanitizing the push bar for them and giving us wipes to wipe them down ourselves.

Maybe you should be more concerned about the ever encroaching wave of death that will surround us with its nauseating stench and follow us for the rest of our lives should we be fortunate enough to live.

personally my biggest struggle for the foreseeable future will be wiping my ass

there was no tp in my bathroom this morning and i took a h u g e messy dump. i dug around and found cotton swabs. but the digging was so stressful 'cause it was like "will feces hit the floor and i have to clean it? i'm already about to be late to work 'cause man that took a while" man it was a big ass dump i weighed myself afterwards out of curiosity and i lost 4 pounds from it

but cotton swabs are surprisingly absorbent. only needed 2 of those bad bois and my behind was STREAK FREE. put on mah jeans and felt confident

think about it. this could be the future. it's time for bidets

my roomy went in the bathroom right afterwards before i get a roll of tp in there and i think i stunk up the place so i went to work feeling like shit (haha). apparently he didn't smell anything and was only there to shower but now i got some air freshener in there

Florida boy here, I manage a pet store these days and I've been seeing lots of parents getting small animals like Hamsters and Fish to keep them busy during the quarantine.

Funny story from a couple days ago, while I was helping an elderly customer while I got the alert from the FL Surgeon that states not to leave your home if you are 65+ or have a medical condition. Well the customer got the alert at the same time and gave it a quick glance, we just kinda stared at each other for a sec and I kinda hurried him along.

Lots of really old folks still out shopping over here, all I can do is get them in and out as quickly as I can.

Maryland's officially under a stay-at-home order. Governor Hogan was pretty firm on his initial restrictions in an effort to try and curb the necessity for it, but it's been pretty clearly observable that people are not taking it seriously.

The situation's evolved VERY rapidly here in Maryland after a nursing home had more than 60 positive cases.

I think bidets will become more of a consideration for people when the toilet paper shortage continues being this bad.

What concerns me though, is that it's one thing if people are using other material to replace toilet paper (e.g. napkins and disinfecting wipes) but PLEASE put those in the trash, NOT the toilet! Putting other items in the toilet will cause blockages and damage to sewer systems.

people surprisingly are taking it seriously in mn, fortunately. movement went down by almost half according to someone who took all our personal data from our phones and tracked our movement.

a nursing home is the fucking worst place for an outbreak to happen though. that's scary. and a really easy way to have prevented that was to put nursing homes on lock down sooner and provide appropriate safety equipment to staff. so like, screw getting old people sick

Florida is at 5700+ cases and close to 70 deaths, most in central and south florida

The panhandle actually has a huge issue with people not acknowledging the guidelines and going where they please. The bars are closed so the canoes got all rented and people took their beer to to the river. The roads appear just as crowded as ever and according to some nurse buddies of mine the hospitals are filling up fast. My county has relatively small numbers but I'm afraid the dominoes will fall any day now.
