Re: FFR Runners
Sorta related but I was in line to pick up merch for the Color Me Rad 5K in Richmond tomorrow and some random dude in line recognized my FFR shirt.

Re: FFR Runners
Nice Mahou, that's awesome.
Update from my neck of the woods.... I finally got my achilles healthy and have had the best 3-4 weeks of training of my life. Mileage has been steady around 80-90 with no hiccups. Workouts have been insane for me... I love when everything finally clicks. I am also probably about 7 pounds lighter which makes a HUGE difference. Ran a 4 mile road race yesterday in 18:54 and then did two more miles on the track in 9:20 after a short recovery... and it felt great. Last week I did 4 x mile w/ 2 min rest starting at 4:30 and cutting down to 4:20. The 4:20 was tough but 4:30 pace feels crazy smooth. Next weekend I am heading to Toronto for a really good 5k with rabbits taking us through 2 miles at 13:40 pace. USA A standard is 13:32... so that's a long shot but I am hoping I can get close.

Congrats on the 5k PR, Mahou!
Came back from states yesterday. My friend David ran a 1:55 800m, placed 5th and broke our school record (as a Sophomore as well!) And my other friend Nate ran a 9:39 3200m and placed 7th. Pretty awesome experience, can't wait to run at ststes myself on day.

Re: FFR Runners
Ran 13:39 last night in Portland. Pretty excited about it. Third week in a row racing, and went 13:56, 13:50, 13:39.
Portland weather is so nice for running compared to the South!

Re: FFR Runners
Coming from someone who barely does exercise anymore, my brain feels like mashed potatoes but it feels nice to at least do about 2.5 miles without stopping. I should start using that app for more accuracy, I suppose. I've only ever done short distances at quicker times like sub-6 minutes for a mile and just barely below 18 minutes for 2 miles. I'm trying to get used to steady jogging with longer distances and I'm just not used to it yet. It's pretty fun, though. I'm pushing to make this a habit.

Re: FFR Runners
Do these apps use GPS to track km? If I have a phone that has no data plan but can download apps, would it work if I gave it a run?

Re: FFR Runners
Once I move to a city with nice views (Vancouver), I am going to start running more. I don't like running up north because I just hate where I live and people are so disrespectful to runners.

Holy crap, Bballa, those are some nice times! Not sure how I missed that post before.
Went out on my first long run today (50 minutes.) Didn't feel too bad actually. I hate running in heat so it made the run much worse. I didn't really feel that much out of breath, I was just so tired from the heat x: Can't wait until Cross practice actually starts.

Re: FFR Runners
I'm going to be completely honest, I think the most cardio I've done in the past two years was at Anime North playing ITG.
I hate everything about conventional cardio. It's so boring to me :(

Re: FFR Runners
Well, it's nice to know that you move your legs in some way, whether it's a rhythm game or not :b. But I guess running isn't meant for everyone, haha.

Re: FFR Runners
Yeah, ITG can be pretty crazy cardio at a certain skill level. I just don't play enough for it to be a consistent form of cardio. My diet right now is clean enough that I don't really have to do cardio though, so I can get by on that.
I should start doing something though. Hill sprints, tire flips, car pushes, etc. HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) seems to be a bit more fun than LISS (Low Intensity Steady State) for me. On that note, does anyone here do any high intensity cardio? If so, what do you do?

Re: FFR Runners
I just started sprinting again. I used to be a sprinter back in school on the track team but I haven't done much running in 10+ years.
Second day out I ran a 12.87 100 m. Does anyone know if that's any good at all? I know I was completely maxed out because I felt like I had just about killed myself even after an extensive warmup...had to lay on the track for a good 5+ minutes before I could move lmao. My everything was sore. Going to keep doing them once or twice a week at a lower intensity so I can do more intervals, and see how fast I can get.
