Default Adjusting to a new keyboard

Up until today I've been playing on my laptop keyboard. My mechanical keyboard came in the mail today and I was hoping it would make for a better playing experience. Everything about it feels awkward. I spent so much time trying different splits, arm angles, seating positions, etc. and it still seems like I've regressed at least 10 skill levels.

Stuff like jacks are trills aren't so bad, but jumpstreams are totally unplayable. Has anyone else been through this? How long does it take to get better?

The jump from a laptop keyboard to a mech is HUGE. Mechs require different actuation force and are generally very different from laptop keyboards. Give it a bit, you'll adjust to your new keybaord

I've never used a mechanical keyboard, just my crappy laptop one. And I've used that for over five years. I bought a big office keyboard this past summer to try to see if that could help with hitting jacks, since those SUCK on laptop keyboards, and it was pretty awkward at first. But yeah keep playing with it and you'll get used to it.

It also depends on which switches you went with, some are better at other things than others

Thanks to everyone who replied. I got some great scores today with my new keyboard and feel just about fully adjusted now. My accuracy is better than ever. It does feel more fatiguing to play a long session so I probably need to build more stamina.
