![]() i played runescape a lot from 2006-2008 but i haven't played a lot since then and i was wondering whether the map from runescape still has the same places like varrock, lumbridge, falador, the wilderness, and the underground place TzHaar (the lava place under the jungle) and whether it has the same quest lines and still lets you kill players in the wilderness
i'm fine with new skills and areas as long as the new runescape still has the same art style and the same skills, areas, and quests as before should i play the new runescape or should i play a private server that has old runescape?

![]() why not just play osrs?
edit: its generally same in terms of areas (somewhat, alot has changed like teh starting zone being in burthrope (the members area) instead of lumbridge)), but since its been out for so long, alot has been expanded.. like, they reworked the TzHaar caves, added new stuff like the Fight Kiln instead of just the fight cave etc and made it bigger. It has the same quests but they are continued, like mournings end (the elf quest line) got finished and the elf area expanded. Im pretty sure like, nobody pks anymore in the wilderness in rs3, but in osrs its really active, edgeville pking and deep wildy and stuff. It also doesnt have the same art style, personally i'm not really a fan of the new graphics Last edited by Dinglesberry; 01-21-2018 at 07:43 PM.. |

![]() osrs is what you want almost certainly if you want nostalgia
I have the somewhat unpopular opinion that rs3 is a playable game in and of itself, but you probably sound like what you would be interested in is old school runescape

![]() both are so unique and separate nowadays that they are practically their own separate game. If you played Runescape pre-2012 and want to come back, OSRS is for you. If you are starting new and haven't played before, RS3 is a much more modern game. There are too many differences between the two to list in one post, so it really comes down to that nostalgia factor.

![]() Just do yourself a favor and never mention RS3 to a serious OSRS player.

![]() Biggest difference? The original was entirely free 2 play. I fazed out when the premium memberships started.

![]() Honestly the biggest difference betweens osrs and rs3, is just how lonely it feels to play rs3. Unless you are doing something very popular, or sitting in a high pop area on a high pop world, you'll rarely even run into people. And if you do, they will almost never talk to you. And if somehow, by some miracle they do, you probably jusy want to mute them anyways.
