Pretty much any game prior to 1994, especially the RPGs
QA for translations didn't exist. Thankfully it got immensely better once 1996 rolled with the rise of the 5th generation of consoles |

Re: Games translations still fascinate me
Can you imagine a timeline where all your favorite Japan made games around 1996-2001 were full of broken English?
Imagine FF7-9 being this. |

Re: Games translations still fascinate me
Ehhh I mean it's not wrong, ish -- just incomplete / partial.
狼少女ジョー = ookami shoujo Joo = "Wolf Girl Jo" So I guess they just used her name "Jo" and didn't feel the need to add the qualifiers? Maybe it's a space thing. Dunno. Last edited by Reincarnate; 09-26-2018 at 02:32 PM.. |

Re: Games translations still fascinate me
It's been a bit, but when I played through it, I don't recall all that much engrish. Then again, it also has been a bit as I said so maybe I'm not remembering right.
