The host will probably call you out on this, since it is not birdspeak.
I had thought of using morse code as well, but knew you probably did not know it.

How about you use the following code. Make sure the kommas stay in there.
We can use the 'replace tool' in microsoft word (ctrl + f),
to translate the bird noises.
Using word you can also make a macro that immediately translates the bird noises to text and vice-versa.

tweet, = a

caw, = c

I think perhaps we should not try to find loopholes to something the host implemented as a way to make it so he can't communicate with us. He clearly wasn't meant to.

I have made a macro for word 2007 to translate birdspeak to humanspeak.
If Mames switches around what is in 'text' and 'Replacement.Text', then Mames will also be able to more easily talk.

It's here:

But more importantly, is there anything important you need to tell us about the bird attack, Mames? Or is the bird attack a red herring?

If so, we should ignore him, and start organising ourselves for the coming attacks.

In real life, even if we did not have computers, we would use a similar way to allow them to talk to us, and tell us what happened.

Switching around the text takes 1 minute.
If he knows how to open macros in word, then soon we should be able to communicate pretty fluently.

Right now I would like Mames to answer my question of whether or not there are any important clues in the bird attack.
If not, then we should try coming up with a plan for the upcoming murders.

Well don't forget that it's day one and we don't actually have anything to go off of, nor a strategy to develop around a set of role lists. As of right now, discussion is our only means of information-gathering.

I'd also like to point out this;
Quote:
You may NOT claim if your role PM says you are unclaimable
Implication that while we may have important roles, those are probably the ones that cannot be publicly claimed. Further, as this is a mystery game we don't even have any promise of what our objective is at this point in the game. I appreciate the illusion of steps towards progress but as of right now, you're playing this game solely on the social aspect of this game.

In other words, talk to people this phase.

I don't know the ruling on using our AIMs, here, though. I imagine there's significance to the random accounts. So for right now everything should be public and in the thread.

There are also plenty of things we can talk about:
'If there is a guardian, we could do so-and-so'.

I also think that the fact that you imply we should not organise can be an argument that you are one of the villains. Causing villagers to be disorganised and not discuss information is something they would want.

I'm not saying not to organize, quite the opposite in fact. I believe I said that the best way is to have things out in the open on the thread?

Everyone knows what to do with a guardian or seer, and the guardian or seer would know as well. You're talking about filling the thread with fluff that is common knowledge as opposed to something productive. Hence my comment about the illusion of progress.

The only thing we can speculate right now is that someone has a role that messes with other people in obscure ways ORRR the use of his role caused him to be thrown into birdspeak.

I read somewhere that AIM is not needed this game. I went ahead and assumed that AIM was not to be used, and don't plan on using AIM in fear of a role that insta-vigi when they match the dream player with the real player.

One theory about roles not being able to be claimed is that it is meant to hide the roles that ruin the "twist" from within the game. I believe we can gather a general theme of the game based on the names we are given however. At this time, I don't have any type of "side quest", but we cannot rule them out.

This game started in the day phase, so if we do not have a good lynch candidate, everyone should take a phantom and make it night.

I also don't need to survive in order to win the game. It may be helpful to figure out the structure of the game if someone else can validate for me that the majority of the players do not need to survive. This will rule out possible backstabbing roles.

Your first comment is fair, although what I found that you implied is that we should not organise, but just chat.

About your second comment, there really are multiple people who do not know the game that well here. You should not assume common knowledge. There have been lots of times that someone did something extremely stupid, that one would think no sane person would do.

If we already talk about what we can do, then everyone will have a concrete understanding of what we could do when we have more information, instead of having people panic in an incredible chaos.

It is similar to how JetNet! just proposed everyone should take a phantom and make it night. In the case that we do not have enough information (very likely in a mystery like this), doing this might be a very good course of action. Had he not said that, a random quiet villager might have been lynched.

You wanting to speculate about the extra roles and gimmicks is also good. If you do not want to talk about other things, then we can do that. However, you should not downgrade the importance of discussing strategy.

This is impossible since he was on birdspeak mode as soon as the game started. It is safe to assume there was no action prior to the game starting since it explicitly stated to not post before that and there has been no wolfings. There is no way the host expected whoever is responsible for the birdspeak ability to send in a PM of such short notice. This being said, it was impossible for him to actively use a role to be thrown into birdspeak, nor is it possible for another player to use any kind of ability on him.

What this does mean is that birdspeak is a mechanic of the game. It does not make communication impossible for the person, so as of right now, we can treat it as nothing more than a distraction since it does not contribute to anything.

I agree. It would probably be best to dismiss the birdspeak as a Red Herring for now, until further notice.

As for your other question regarding victory conditions, dead villagers usually win, as long as the villagers win in general.

However, the intro-post stated: '4 villains' and '13 non-villains'.
It didn't state that all non-villains are also villagers.
If there are multiple factions, then there will probably be a relatively high need to survive.

The only people we should lynch right now are the people pushing for lynches. At this rate, even if we paint the structure of the game in the thread, it will only be beneficial to the wolves rather than help us find a lynch candidate.

I don't see how we can do anything right now.
