Default Sven's Stupid Video Game Collection (aka Félix you suck)

Yup yup.

So I wasn't aware I even had a collection until realizing I put a shit ton of money in video game collecting (yup yup it can be good for a man to live with its parents) But yeah. I focus on nothing much as a collector, as, uh, I think 99% of games are a waste of time (yeah really, I actually dislike playing games) and that's kind of why I buy them. I'd explain, but nah. This post will already take ages to list and shit.

Actually, maybe I'll add my gaming background. Who knows... I'm maybe enough of a masochist. I'll reserve the second post for a bio and shit.

Anyway there goes for what I have now. I'll limit this to what I have in my room (the wii is upstairs and is only there because my family plays it, so it still counts), so all those games and consoles I have at my mom's place (N64 and PS1 for example) I won't put in there, unless I find them back and put them in my shelf. But regardless, there goes.

Final note before listing: I'm not gonna start saying if I have the manual or not for those games. Going through the Playstation stuff would be hell. And if "Complete" is stated, it means that I own the game with the box. Manual might be missing or not. Maybe I'll update this eventually.

Final note V2: This is a work in progress. View post #2 for more info.

*EDIT NOV. 2016: Took out the "sealed" and "new since last update" features. Gonna bump thread anyway with the newer material.*

Default Re: Sven's Stupid Video Game Collection (aka Félix you suck)

- UNDER CONSTRUCTION!! -

What I intend to put in this section:

- My "gaming" and "collecting" background HOLY SHIT DONE IT TOOK FOREVER.
- My goals and interests as a collector
- My "Most Wanted" list
- Why I do this
- Pictures of interesting stuff/objects of value/rare things/obscure shit

Alright, time for a more personal and arguably more interesting part. I figured that just a list is boring as shit, so let's use this post to provide an entertaining overview of what this thread is all about.

Let's start with my gamer bio. Cracked style! (At least, I'll try!)

My Background.

The first time I ever played a video game (that I can recall and that left a big impression on me was probably when I was almost 3 years old, and had leukemia. I was interned in an hospital in Baie-Comeau for a while, which I obviously don't recall much at all, but that I still have a few images of. The main image that I have and kept in mind of this event is also the earliest I have of my entire life. There was a video game console for me to play, and my dad tried to get me into it.

"That's where it all started."

I remember a pink character, flying manholes, and underground passages with difficult jumps (I remember my dad failing at them). I don't really recall playing it myself, I think I did, but I'm not sure if it's just my mind making up stories with the images I had. But whatever (as a side note, MarioNintendo managed to find that game back from this little piece of info that I had! That's fucking wonderful, it is like something I knew but didn't know at all that he got me to (re)discover!!).

"And the protagonist beared an uncanny resemblance to this guy."

So well. Fast forward a bit. Apparently I was pretty obsessed with this whole video game thing as I was grasping a good sense of what locution is. So finally my parents gave in and bought me a Sega Master System. And then I was hooked. Of course again the memories are super blurry. I remember my dad playing some Golf game, and I fucking loved watching him play that. There was also this Samurai game, Kenseiden, which I found to be impossible at the time, so I just made it over and over to the same stupid part where there was a boss shaped like a wheel throwing blue fire which was simply impossible, which allowed me to remember that much (fun fact: recently bought it and I STILL get my ass kicked against that fucking boss; the day I will beat him will be pretty damn glorious), and, of course... There was Montezuma's Revenge... Oh god, I have been traumatized for my entire childhood because of this one game. Particularly because of one monster.

""OH MY GOD IT'S BACK!!!!!! RUN!!!!! HE'S GONNA KIDNAP ME AND EAT ME IN THE SKY IF I DON'T GO TO BED!!!" - Yeah, and my parents were making me go to bed everytime, telling me the bird was already coming for me and it was probably too late already for me to go to bed, but that I'd still have a chance if I went immediately, which scared me so much I'd run to my bed and cry my lungs out. Talk about parental abuse!"

Anyway I grew up with this thing and I got hooked. There was also this old computer we had, it had a mario painting game and some Aladdin game, I don't really know, but I was also obsessed by it. Then I went to school and made friends - Oh yeah, I basically grew in the forest. Better mention it now, since it will be relevant later - in the small village I was living in. Video games were the main thing I wanted to talk about, and turned out pretty much all of my "class" mates were into it to some extent. Guess it was our batch's common interest! I was the only one with the Master System though, so going to any friend's place meant I'd play something new. Like the NES. That played in my favor since everyone had the damn thing. Guess I had the right tools to pressure my parents.

""But mom, everyone else has it!" I guess that's how it could have turned out, although the real story went a bit differently."

Two years later, we got flooded. Pretty bad. As in awfully fucking bad. As in the basement got filled up to ground level with sewer water. And that's where the Master System was. Damn. And shortly after, I fucking GRADUATED (fk yea) from kindergarten and got in 1st grade. And I started showing sign of ADHD. And I wanted attention at school. And I started to turn... Agitated, to say the least. And everything didn't work out. Soooo.... My mom had my uncle give her his NES, since his kids were grown up and the console was just left to rot in the basement. And it came with one of those 1000-in-one cartridges (one that I have never ever seen again in my life. Probably worth a ton today!), so no worries about buying games.

"Because an image is worth 1000 words."

And she had this little thing going on. She started doing analogies: Behaving well at school was like plugging the console, doing my homeworks was like pushing the "Power" button. And so on. And for some reason, it worked pretty well! Of course at school I wasn't really there, just daydreaming about the NES. But oh fuck did I have energy. Always first to finish things, because my mom told me working made time pass! So I was doing the activities while thinking it would get me home quicker. That lasted for the entire year. It was awesome. I was an awesome little kid. Teachers thought I was a genius brat. But hey. Then, "it" happened.

"Here, my little sister. I still hold a grudge against her for what she did. Way worse than when she snuck in my bed with scissors in an attempt to chop off my cock."

My parents were reamenaging my room on the second floor, and I don't know what the hell went up her mind, but she took the NES and brought it upstairs. Maybe she assumed it should be in my room because I was hooked to it ALL THE TIME? I don't know. But for some reason, when she was upstairs with it, she threw it over the ramp. And crash, there goes the console. RIP man. Then I threw a massive tantrum that lasted for an eternity. The school forced my parents to let me see psychologists if they wanted me to remain there. Everything about me was insane. And my parents experienced hell. Sorry about that, guys.

"This isn't how I was. I found this picture in my personal life dictionary. Yeah. It's right next to the word "understatement"".

My childcare person (I have no fucking clue how to call her in English, but a logical translation would be "keeper", so whatever) at LEAST had a video game console to keep me occupied (read: prevent me from killing the other kids), and what was it? The Super Nintendo. Oh damn, I loved this thing. I've played it so much. Mario World, Mario All-Stars, Mario Kart, Wario Land and Mortal Kombat on the Super Boy, Mario Paint, Wild Guns and so on. Holy shit have I played those. Most of my friends also got it, as well as one of my cousins which I started to grow really close to because of that. That kept the addiction fueled! But this time, my parents didn't buy me a new console. They thought I was far too hooked. There was nothing else, so they bought me encyclopedias, which actually became the next best thing to video games for me. But my situation at school was getting REALLY bad. I got kicked out so many times, and teachers were bugging my parents with questions after I got my Ritalin, seeing it didn't help much. My mom eventually let out that I was completely hypnotized by video games. They started making exercises with video game related questions and put my desk outside of the classes. Then I managed to go through, until one christmas in particular that made this whole thing no longer necessary. Shortly put, my parents gave up.

"I was the new hip kid in town."

My parents got me the Playstation on release date and gave it to me on Christmas. It became immediately effective. And all my gifts were now either Encyclopedias or games, and mostly the latter. My dad was also playing a lot with me, and eventually my mom would play too, but she was terrible. 2 years later, I got the N64. And hooked more than ever. Besides, it was necessary. Do you guys have any idea how hard it is to beat games on your own without speaking the language at all? I beat a ton of games without understanding 99% of what I'd read and hear. Sure I knew "play", "quit", "game over", etc (fun fact, as a kid I thought it was "guimauveur", which essentially means marshmallow-er), but yeah, dat dedication. I found some interesting glitches too, and stumbled upon the most hilarious game in history: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. Don't ask why, I myself am not sure, but the second level is SO. INSANELY. FUNNY. But yeah, overall, I turned batshit crazy. I remember receiving it and going to bed with anticipation for the next day, I actually dreamt of random shit at school, at which I'd tell people I just want to spend enough time before making myself wake up, then go play the game, then at some point I was on rocks at the beach and told myself that "ok, it's time!", and I jumped off my bed at this instant and ran to my console to play some Mario Kart 64 with my N64 driving set. It was insane. I was insane.

"Now with a 100% more relevancy!"

Sad part is... This is the only times I'd want to be with my family. Should they decide to bench my gaming session, I wouldn't talk to them. And my most of my friends started to get other interests, and I was kinda left out. Did I care? nope. But that's how things were. I still had a few friends, most of which turned into losers entering high school. Then I was all alone. With my games. And oh yeah, got a Game Boy Color in 6th grade. Had Castlevania and Tetris. This is the only console I got as a kid that I still have in a working state today. It's the see-through one. And oh, last 2 years of elementary school went smoothly: My attitude was exemplary.

"And not a single fuck was given that - Hey Félix, is that you??"

Entering high school, I was called a weirdo. And hell I was. I had no friends, took on several beatings on a weekly basis, and I didn't really care. It's like it didn't matter, and I didn't really mind it. Nor did I mind school anymore for a while... Even though, deep inside, I think that's why I stopped liking school back then. I got... Mentally troubled to say the least. I had one friend, the one other class loser that was still into video games instead of "teen things". Eh. My parents became worried. I started to see psychiatrists, but I didn't feel bad really. It was like the world was moving around me, regardless of my will. I just went along, without a mind. Kinda. I don't know, dark ages of my life, maybe I don't recall it all very well because I don't want to... That's one guess. Also the Playstation died because of another flood, but I wasn't really playing the thing anymore, favoring the N64.

"That's me at school. Thinking about nothing. Doing work. In between... Nothing. But I didn't feel bad."

Then I got the Gamecube. It put me up to date and gave me something to talk about but it didn't change the situation that much. I was obviously hooked, I traded some games with a few people, but that was mostly it. I was also running and doing bodybuilding with my dad (I started this shit at 9 years old, not really sure what my old one had in mind!), so I was at least fit enough to defend myself, but I wouldn't. Except of a few occasions... But I think it was more about seeing an opportunity to draw attention on me. Lol! At home, my parents were regularly informed of what was happening to me. They were depressed, and they were so much concerned about me that they neglected my sister, which shows a lot on her today. And then there was this one important moment; I had a meetup with my parents and my psychiatrist (still at Baie-Comeau's hospital), and they offered me... To be sent in a Psychiatric division of some hospital in Quebec City. It was a shock, but in the end, I accepted.

"What's with the damn hospital theme going on in my gaming background??"

This experience changed me forever. And even though there's this big stereotype of psychiatric hospitals being borderline prisons disguised as madness asylums, this wasn't so bad, and a lot of freedom. And friends there. And doctors monitoring me every single day and morning. And handheld consoles. And a PS2. And most importantly... The internet.

"Seriously, you know you can't resist putting something like that after mentioning this kind of thing. Welcome to the internet!"

Now, ok, I knew about it, we already had it for a while at school and home shit. But I never got to REALLY experience that. It was still this this crap with the phone; if you picked the phone it would kill the internet for a while, and you really couldn't do anything with it other than basic stuff like reading emails and going on MSN Messenger/mIRC/ICQ. This was different. I learned of google, and everything, so awesome. After 10 weeks I got out of there, and well I talked to and met my parents once in a while, and they greeted me back with something pretty cool: A computer! A good one (at the time)! And we had medium speed internet! With a modem and a router! Woohoo! First thing I wanted to do: Get games. I downloaded eMule on the first day, which I read on at the hospital, and download GTA Vice City. I already knew of emulators, but back then even something as gay as a GBA emulator would turn my computer into a turtle, but now, hehehe, all games, all free. That's a complete different mindset that I had, all games for free. 2 years later I was on my last high school year, and we got a Wii. First thing I did, I called my cousin and he ordered a Wiikey for me. The soldering failed, but the Wii still worked. But yeah, quite an evolution in my mentality. I also quit the gym thing and started losing weight incredibly quickly.

"Oh come on! We all did it."

But yeah. Then Cégep (Google it if you don't know what it is all about, you lazy motherfuckers). At this time I was starting to be able to speak English. Starting being the key word. I sucked at it. But whatever, still by far the best of my village. Not counting the newer generations which obviously had more early access to the language than we did, I believe I was the sole fluent speaker from the village from my age group and beyond. But whatever. It means I got into things I didn't have access to before. Such as multiplayer games! And flash games! Again, I knew of flash games from mouth to ear from everyone, and it's not like we're THAT isolated, I mean, we knew people from the cities which were much more educated about things than we were, lol. Of interest, I picked up my first rhythm game back then. It was Frets on Fire. Dat Jurgen.

"That game featured some world class taunting too!"

But at the same time, this is also when I became slightly distant to the actual gaming and was more into the technical thing; news, reviews, communities, mechanics of games, etc. I was also in a band at the time (and for those of you who want to know more about me, if you know the origins of "Hateandhatred", well this was it, it's where the name comes from. It was when I was a monster), and involved in a few activities, plus Cégep was taking a lot of my time. So when I'd play, I'd just want to beat the game. Not like, complete it, or anything like that, but be superior than the mechanics. I dunno, I didn't want my time invested on games to be wasted in simple fun. Plus I was getting super involved with guitar playing and other shit. So whatever.

"I'm an important man and I got shit to do, better go straight to the point."

Then I started moving around in Quebec for school and I started getting extremely unlucky with it. I also hit a few walls in relationship and became a nice person (I hope I am!). As far as gaming goes, I started speedrunning a bit, but was overall losing interest in games for practically the first time since I was born. Instead it was all about the guitar. I eventually withdrawed from the gaming clans I was a part of (Call of Duty 2 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, rofl), and my dad did the same a few months later, although he still misses the golf (I know I make my dad appear to be a gamer, but he wasn't even a moderate one, sorry for the misleadings, he was only trying to have fun with me and with some online buddies he made along the way, and he did). I picked the weight I lost back up (gayyyyy) and that only pulled me even further away from gaming. This went on for a while, occasionnally playing the GameCube (my sister kept the Wii and was living with my mom), emulators or flash games once in a while, but it didn't count much. I did some pretty cool things, like my walkthrough series on The Lion King, or passing Ninja Gaiden without save states, etc. But it didn't matter much anymore. School. Guitar. Lame. Life. In the span of a few year. I've also been lookink for better rhythm games to play, and then I remembered Stepmania. And oh... Shit.

"But you always come back."

Stepmania got me back to it, but in a much more mature way. It wasn't all over the damn place. But I loved it. In a special way. And I still do. And then I moved in Sherbrooke, and during the winter, while visiting my mom, I felt like playing it, but didn't want to download it on a computer I wouldn't touch again for months to come, but then... I remember this one flash game. It was on Children of Bodom's myspace in April, shortly after their Blooddrunk release. So I typed in "www.flashflashrevolution.com". And played. And thought I was the best at it, like I'm playing a dead game. And then I hit a wall. I'm actually terrible at it, D2 at stepmania, D1 at FFR. And what kind of skill was ahead of me was HUGE. So what was my reaction? I made an account. Fuck yeah, it was on.

"Pretty much this, covered with shitloads of enthusiasm sprinkles."

FFR has been pretty much the only game I have played lots ever since. In early 2012 I realized I had a job for quite a while now, and got a pretty amount of cash banked. So I treated myself and bought a PS2. Why not? The games are cheap, and holding a controller could have been pretty nostalgic! And the genre range of the PS2 is arguably the broadest! But really, the main interest was DDR. And I got it too. I played it for a while, but decided to stick with FFR. I started playing a few PS2 games, and I kinda realized that there were like 10 EB Games and Microplays around, since at this time I was living in Quebec City. So I started buying PS2 games. Lots. And I found it to be cool! And I put them in alphabetical order. Yeah. But then came the time where I wanted to pick it back up. So much choice! Like before with the 1000-in-1 type of cart for the NES! But at that point, I felt empty. There was nothing I felt like putting in the Playstation 2. So what did I do? I bought a PS3. And did the same. I managed to get 12 platinum trophies, and then I got bored. That same feeling. I don't know. Playing games with someone is cool, playing games with a goal is cool. Playing titles I'm already familiar with, it was cool... Getting any further... I don't feel like there is much else to get. Maybe FFR has to do with it... Right now, FFR is the only game (and maybe Stepmania as well) that really drives me, playing wise.

"Yeah. That's my room. Just with actual stashes of games that reach the damn ceiling."

I was also pretty depressed back then like... Suicidal. Yeah, and I was like that since before I moved back to Quebec City. My mom was also suffering from a major depression, and I started feeling worthless, and a lot of negative things. I'm starting to feel terrible just reminiscing, so I'll make it quick. Basically it was about that. But in August 2012, I left for Europe, and this changed everything. Gaming wise, most of you know I spent my ENTIRE second week in Sweden with Sakish. Isaac, if you are reading this, I'd like you to know that you've helped infinitely much. I'm not really sure in which ways, since Europe in general was like hitting the reset button, but considering how I've spent the one third of my trip with you, you deserve a major thumbs up for what you did and how you were with me! I fucking owe you one, bro.

"Next time we better get to actually drink the viking vodka. And it'll be on me."

Fast forward to almost a year later, I decided that maybe the last thing that was left for me in gaming was... Collecting! And why not? It's such a big part of my life, it seems logical to keep it around as a memorial of what I am and what I've been! Maybe that's like a form of nostalgia, even though I'm not fond of my past, neither of who I am now, but it's all about who I've been and how I grew. Or maybe the more logical hypothesis would be that I can seriously get into something when I decide that I want to, and I just end up buying a bunch of random shit.

"I consider myself a rational man. But I can be just about this reasonable."

So guys, that was FAR longer than I expected, I clocked in a good 4 hours typing this shit. There might be things that aren't really right in the timeline of things and shit, and some minor details might be missing, but I think that's it. If you read this all, major ass props, you deserve a medal, rofl.

"Or you need help. Get the hell out of - Oh again with the hospital stuff?"

The end.

I sent Felix a bunch of games, started from a blank slate. Besides I do own a few more but they're at a different house so they don't count, otherwise you could add like 25 NES games, 5 SNES games, 20 Playstation Games and 20 N64 games.

As far as why I own these in particular right now is because I am, to put it simply, fucking retarded.

Thank you for the kind words!

Also, upgraded the CD-i and 3DO collections a little bit. Plus bought a really random PS1 title.

3DO: Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger, Gex, Theme Park. All 3 complete with the box and shit. Also, I am the highest bidder on a complete Night Trap (that would be pretty cool, if I get this one I'll only need one more game that made the purchase of that console interesting, and that game is Street Figther II Turbo).

CD-i: Burn: Cycle and Chaos Control. I've been looking for "The Joy of Sex" just for the sake of owning what is pretty much the rarest game on the console and one of the extremely few games to be rated Ao and sold on a console (the only one on the CD-i), to no avail. This thing is impossible to find.

Playstation: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

I'm gonna add them in post #1.

Also bidding on a front loader Sega CD attachment for the first genesis (pretty hard to find). Who knows!

EDIT: Updated.

New update!

Night Trap and Space Ace now part of the collection! Both bought at their prices, ugh... And that's it for the 3DO (at least for now, maybe later I'll buy Alone in the Dark, Street Fighter Turbo II, Star Control II and Need For Speed).

Next update will be in quite a while. Unless I win this SEGA MEGA CD GEN. 1 COMPLETE IN BOX !!11!!1! Hype.

Also incoming edit to post #2. Stay tuned!
