Help with DVD-RW :/
I recorded myself playing Death Piano because my rank 10 score got taken away..
So I recorded myself with a Panasonic Video Recorder..? It uses a DVD-RW (The 1.4GB, 30 MIN, 2x ones).. So I pop the DVD-RW into my computer and.. to my surprise, when I try to read the files on it (namely the videos..), it asks if I want to format my DVD-RW or not, and that's just about as far as I can get into my DVD-RW. So.. how the heck do I rip the video files that are on the DVD-RW 1.4GB? I can seem to watch it fine on my recorder, but no where else can I read these files (or even be able to touch them..) Help? |

Re: Help with DVD-RW :/
Are you sure the DVD driver on your computer can read DVD-RW's? Some computers can read DVDs only, but not the RWs, though I'm not entirely sure on this. All I know is that my dad's laptop plays DVDs when I put them in there, but I stuck in my DVD-RW to steal some pr0n off his laptop and I couldn't open my disk.
So... check this? Also, if you really want, take it to a photo store. They have equipment for this, they should be able to extract the video and give it to you in VHS if you so want it. |

Re: Help with DVD-RW :/
Unless he's planning to send a video tape to Tass, that's a pretty dumb suggestion, BB.
I'm pretty sure he just wants to get it onto his computer. If it's a disc, then you can probably open the files through your Windows Explorer and pull them onto your hard drive. Though, I don't know what format they come off the camera in. Is there any computer software that is supposed to come with the camera? Because that's probably where you can get the most help from. I was just saying if you want this video in any format, a photo store is a good place to go. xD I wasn't telling him/her/it to go get it in tape format. They can give it to you in a CD, saved as an MPEG.

Re: Help with DVD-RW :/
No, no software/CD came with it..
And as I have said.. I can't even see the files. Can't even try dragging them out.. That's the problem here. |

Re: Help with DVD-RW :/
Is there any way you can capture video from the camera (old-fashioned way) instead of just popping the disc into your computer? This seems like the only option if the only device that can read the data is your camera.
Actually, just for kicks and giggles, try out this tutorial and see if it works before trying to capture video. I'm not sure if it will work or not, as you're saying not even the files show up such that you can drag them, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Re: Help with DVD-RW :/
There should be software that came with the camera, because I'm almost positive the panasonic will not record it in a format that is playable by any normal media player on a computer. This is also why your computer probably doesn't recognize it. See if you can google up the exact camera match and try and find any freeware or downloadable programs that work for that; or just search your house for the CD.
