What do you think you will be if you never heard of FFR?
(I'm not too sure if this belongs to Chit Chat or General Talk so...)
You'll probably wonder about this every once in a while. Would your life be any different if you never heard of FFR? If you never met this community and never spent your time playing rhythm games, what do you think you would be? It's been something I've been wondering about for a long time, and I think that I'll be a completely different person altogether if it weren't for the community haha. What about you guys? I'd like to see what you think. |

Re: What do you think you will be if you never heard of FFR?
If I had never heard of ffr I would have been on the computer a lot less, and socialized more in person with people both in highschool and college/up to now. I'd probably had gotten more involved with my highschool activities, participated in assemblies, and partied. Similar to college I believe. I am someone who needs people so I would have needed to "get out there" if there was no computer. I've had "internal mindset issues" since age 13 and I wonder if I was going to find some sort of escape no matter if I found ffr or not. However, a different escape probably would have been more self nurturing. The start of my ffr account signifies the beginning of the copious amounts of time I spend on the computer even if I don't always spend it on ffr now. I think becoming super involved on the computer since the age of 16 has turned me into some what of a social recluse and hasn't really helped my life really. It's almost like there is a gap in my life since 16.
Positives: Met some interesting peeps online (most people not very well but those I have genuinely met and enjoy talking to mean a lot to me), had some fun in the mo. |

Re: What do you think you will be if you never heard of FFR?
My English, being a second language, would have not evolved so much over the course of the past years if it weren't for FFR. Also, instead of making stepcharts, I believe I'd be on my piano more, trying to compose new songs.
I wouldn't use Skype as much either, I believe. |

Re: What do you think you will be if you never heard of FFR?
I'd probably spend my time playing various other video games like the to do list i have on my profile and I think I'd have a lot more games beaten at this point xD
Also I probably would have continued to play runescape and waste my life on that trying to get max stats without spending irl money on getting in game money boosts/all those weird perks they had like 5 or 6 years ago

Re: What do you think you will be if you never heard of FFR?
Probably would've played more video games instead like icy and would weigh at least a bit more (I started this because of playing DDR once, but I probably wouldn't have gotten better at that because I used to be really bad x.x then FFR gave me better reading ability)

Re: What do you think you will be if you never heard of FFR?
^this. I think that's the biggest impact FFR has had on me, it really expanded my music tastes and introduced me to many genres I wouldn't normally listen to.
In general, I try not to spend too much time on FFR so I try not to let it affect my daily life (so I go on when I have some free time and yada yada yada). But if I had never heard of FFR, I would probably have spent a lot more time playing other computer games. |

Moved to Chit Chat.
Not sure what I'd be doing, to be honest. About 7 years ago, I was frequenting sites like deviantART and fanfiction.net I'd be playing more video games and studying more often.

I'd still be playing competitive counter-strike 1.6
Well because of stepmania that is. FFR just added on to it. I was part of many rhythm gaming communities at the time.

I wouldn't have fast fingers and I wouldn't appreciate different types of music.

Re: What do you think you will be if you never heard of FFR?
This
I also used to do MMORPGs and I honestly was pretty fucked up back in middle school (not going to get into details here). I was depressed and every time something didn't go my way I would cry like a goddamn baby (this happened until sophomore year of high school). Back in March 2008 was when I made this account to escape all the BS calls I had on previous accounts, and I found that I had the natural physical skills to play vibrating files. I really put a big focus on vibrating files in 2008 (eventually pulling off/lucking an AAA on Jackhammer Madness with the rosewill keyboard I found in a trash bin at a high school football game, keyboard is nowhere to be found now). As much as I really didn't have many friends, that JHM AAA was a tremendous personal accomplishment that I actually valued, even though with full honesty I can say it also required an enormous amount of luck lmfao. This game was really something that I could actually enjoy playing and improve at. Also keep in mind this was back in the vibrating age... I always had the view that rhythm games were about hitting awkward as shit patterns all the time, but then I saw people like Isaac doing fast vibrating files and dump files started to make an appearance. This is part of the reason why I don't really like AAAing files as much as doing rates and speed files that aren't meant to be AAAd. There are a lot of details I can go into, but I would be a psychological mess if it had not been for continuing on with Stepmania/FFR -- I can say this with absolute certainty. I had nobody to talk to. Anyone who's seen my old accounts knows that I have ffdfadsdasd and ffdfadsdasd2 etc. I made several accounts to "defend" myself if I was ever losing in an argument. I had anger management issues, it felt like basically everyone was against me and I wasn't a logical person; I also had violent thoughts about killing others. As much as there are still a lot of people that dislike me, well, I'm a lot more logical now and I can handle it/get over it. |

Re: What do you think you will be if you never heard of FFR?
This. Also, I would still be Mr. Nice Guy if I haven't heard of FFR and I wouldn't have met many people ranging from people really different than me to people really similar to me. My family wouldn't have been so disappointed of me as well if I never heard of FFR.
