Sure, I'm in the same boat, but I enjoy doing what I do for the site. It's actually a stress reliever for me to work on projects for FFR whether it be a function of FFR Events or FFR TCG. Nobody can scoff at the amount of work you do noname. The devotion you put into FFR (wiki amongst several other things) is absolutely insane, and I commend you for that. I envy your dedication at times and wish I had more time to devote to FFR. I certainly disagree with the comment you made about your work going completely unnoticed, though .

This has pretty much nothing to do with the subject of this thread, but I thought I'd chime in with a reply to this post

Thanks for the support guys, was a bit salty when I made that post. I didn't really want to derail the thread but I had to get it out.

It's went from 7 articles to 3,837 articles within that time, and 95% of the work was from you, noname. Believe me when I say, if you ask for thanks & support, you're gonna get it.
That's a bit much, a lot have to be credited to Eze which helped at various stages, especially with the song pages. And also to the many contributors since the beginning of the project.

By the way, I noticed a glitch were when there's a 0 in the Times Played column, my score didnt count for TPs. It counted towards av rank, but gave 0 TP even though it was a passing score.

Just pointing that out, simply playing the song again gave me the TP.

I am very frustrated that Velocity continues to work without a proper testing environment. I appreciate Velocity’s recovery effort, but his incautious actions reflect the entire development team. I have been struggling to find the energy to make this response since I learned what had happened, but I will do my best now to explain what will happen next.

Velocity is away attending a convention until April 27th. He plans to run a series of scripts which will remove any replay scores which should not have been recovered, and restore mistaken removals from our recent backups/caches. The ability to delete replays has been temporarily blocked until Velocity can run these scripts. The limit of 150 saved replays cannot be extended without further disrupting other parts of the site and game engine.

Pretty sure he was planning on leaving staff after all this crap got fixed, if I'm not wrong.

Velocity has been a great asset to this site for many years. He doesn't need his access revoked, but he does need to learn to become more empathetic. Rushy is right that Velocity announced he would be stepping down after this has resolved, but he will continue to assist with the development of the dev site.

NO MORE SCRIPTS

twice was a good enough lesson, sorry to be blunt.

scripts probably have to be used anyway but create a testing environment. Don't try to fight, wrap your site!

he's been an asset but not a great one; iirc he's been pretty fucking pompous and all of the bullshit that's been going on for the past however long is only helping to remove the air of mystery surrounding him

okay yeah he built a new engine for a game that died in 2009 but now we also know that he doesn't have his priorities straight

so don't say he's been a great asset when he is a large contributing factor in all of the bullshit going on recently

he does need his access revoked
why the fuck would you allow someone to make changes to a live site, not once, not twice, but fucking three times

do you understand that what he's doing/failing to do goes against a lot of information systems ethics? he's fucking around with shit that is either beyond his ability, or he's fucking around with no safe-guards

if you stand back, look at that from any rational standpoint, that is not an "asset"

that is a hindrance

if he keeps doing what he's doing he'll be here until synthlight finally pulls the plug

"hey son here are the keys to my car I know you've damaged the last few cars and now they're in the shop but I still trust you to not fuck this one up"

"okay dad you can count on me"

Thank you.

Finally, a hint of accountability from someone on the developer group. It's a start.

Why is PrawnSkunk talking for Velocity instead of Velocity posting himself?

The only post that resembled any update from Velocity on his status regarding being a developer was this post. The April 9th disaster was after this post despite Velocity stating himself "I did leave staff around a month ago" which makes me think this could have potentially just been a way to dodge accountability for any serious disasters.

A developer doesn't claim to leave staff, then plan to run a series of scripts after a disaster with the same problems (no test environment, etc.) -- not even stating a course of action to work towards preventing something of that nature from happening again. Running scripts in a live environment is no better than playing Russian Roulette for an analogy.

Also, the post about weekly backups better have been true. Otherwise these score recovery efforts would have literally been a waste of time.

Because all the pent up anger is literally an equivalent to the inside of a volcano, maybe, probably...

yes.

fyi with all this pented anger if Velocity does post in here this thread will turn into Darkshark exposed levels of rage.
I'm pretty sure we'd want to keep the thread from devolving into that.

Can't we all play nice

Not like anyone's getting paid to run this ship, this ship with an exceedingly reclusive capitan and behind closed doors staff.

The hull is leakin water and the passengers are knocking on the staff cabin like "did anyone think to put lifeboats on this ship?"

I'll never let go, FFR. I'll never let go.
