Default Question and Answer Needed :D

Ok so, I have recently started to create music. However, I'm having a major problem in determining which music creating software to use. So my question is which one would you best advise me to use. I don't care if its free or if you have to buy it. I'm just looking to see which ones there are and what's the best one to use.

Thanks.

As far as answering your question, there really is no set answer.

There are simply too many DAW's out there (Digital Audio Workstation), but the ones I have personally used and recommend are FLS 8, which I then moved to now version Acid Pro 7, and am now moving to Ableton Live 8.

Best thing I would suggest is just to look at the following link and just do some research.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital...ercial_systems

I would personally start out with FLS though, as it is the most easily attainable, cheapest solution, and most user friendly for people starting out.

Reason and FL Studio are good programs, but if you're just starting out I'd recommend easy-to-use programs.

Mixcraft is a great program for beginners, then work to the more advanced stuff.

I first heard of Mixcraft from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c4NOrwpguU

Although the EQ sucks, that isn't bad for his first song.

Long story short (as always), Mixcraft is good for learning the basics, FL Studio/Reason is good for stepping up.

I started with Acid. I had no idea what I was doing. I learned by playing with the software.

Mixcraft looks like a shitty substitute for Acid.

I forgot I made a sticky about this subject 3 years ago

But I suppose you were looking for more of a personal recommendation, so it's cool haha

I would as well recommend FL, it's intuitive and easy to grasp, yet versatile and powerful once you know the deeper workings and have experience. Just don't over use default sounds!

Yeah i suggest starting out with fl studio, or samplitude music studio (google it)
once you get fl studio down, and the effects. its really really useful, like using the sidechaining technique on a upward sweep to make it so you only hear it inbetween the kick. and tons of other effects with automation clips.

FL Studio is a pretty great place to start, DAW-wise. It's solid, has great VST support, easy to read interface, great automation controls, and has one of the most intuitive sample choppers out there (FL Slicer). If you're feeling bold, you can try EnergyXT2, which is a step up from FL, but it's a bit harder to learn and less stable, but makes up for its great flexibility.

Don't forget to check out the sticky with some recommended VST sites. They are definitely worth your while.

And remember, it never hurts to try out different DAWs. Give 'em a week or so's worth of time, find out which one you like the most before deciding on one, although ultimately it's not the DAW that makes you a great producer, it's you.
