Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
Wait, are you one of the people who thinks sushi is insane and unsafe, or are you just referring to stuff like chicken/pork/beef/random animals?

did you even read the first part, he said that he worked at a slaughterhouse for years
I totally agree tho, if you're eating raw meat you're doing it at your own risk. Sushi owns

Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
Of course, but I don't think that's relevant to sushi. They process livestock in a completely different way than fish.

Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
I'm not against killing animals for food as long as it involves humane slaughter... but I don't think it's necessary to put them through pain for no real reason. That shit's disturbing. There's a difference between eating food that's dead and food that's still alive and writhing in pain on your plate.
Guess it's not... *dons shades* ...easy being green. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH |

If you worked that slow, you'd be fired. Plus it is much more efficient/safer to have the carcass hanging up while you work.

There is a difference, however, between eating raw meat from an animal that has just been killed and eating raw meat that has had time for bacteria to wreak havoc. We *can* eat raw meat just fine (although there are many clear benefits to cooked meat) -- it's just that we no longer live in a society where everything raw is necessarily uber-fresh straight out of slaughter. First and second video I just went wide-eyed. can't bear to watch, can't look away~ (acoustic guitar song in the frog vid sounds familiar, but I can't seem to place it)
After I saw the placenta vid, I just went "**** this." |

Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
I don't understand the enjoyment they recieve from the dying animal being shown off during it's last (in)glorious seconds before consuming it.
Just kill the ****er, prepare it and eat it. No need for bullshit like that. Also I've had frogs legs -- self-pronounced food connoisseur here, I'll try almost anything -- before (French style) which are taste-wise pretty resembling to chicken except smaller meat to bone ration. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat them but they are pretty tasty. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frog_legs) Last edited by Coolboyrulez0; 07-1-2012 at 03:52 AM.. |

Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
If you ate fresh raw foods your whole life it would probably not even phase your immune system. I doubt we've even evolved away from it at all.
Video is strange. Not sure how I feel about eating something that is still alive. Oh well. Last edited by Izzy; 07-1-2012 at 05:28 AM.. |

Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
being a chef, I can tell you certain meats are totally safe to eat raw. people shouldn't be so paranoid. as long as it isn't pork or ground beef, get over it and eat a rare lamb chop

Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
Everyone who is saying that it's still alive when they're eating it, I don't think it is. It's just like if you cut the tail off of a lizard, the lizard's tail will be bouncing around about a minute or two after it's been severed.

Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
I can see that for the snakes, but I'm pretty sure they made sure to keep that frog alive. Same with the fish in that other one.

Re: Japanese food - Live Frog sushi (Warning: Disturbing Imagery)
The fish one probably was dead, too. Didn't it show them gut the fish? However, the initial process was them skinning it, it seems. So the fish one was more cruel than the frog one for sure. The frog one got sliced and killed pretty much immediately from what I saw. I don't think it was really alive much longer after the knife penetrated it.
