Yoshi's Island 100% with Trihex was as I thought it would be. Pretty entertaining.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Oh yeah, that guy.
Ummm... Poor humor in an event that doesn't call for it aside, he was definitely on the cringey side (if but oddly entertaining). His Sonic Adventure DX run wasn't as bad. He was still "random" but not sprouting humor that goes against the event. |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
I don't know what happened, how can you go from a run with fine commentary for Sonic, then suddenly open the cringe gates when you play crash 2, I just don't get it
rip his twitch account as well

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
I think it's more because he kept on messing up on Crash 2. His Sonic Adventure DX run was pretty much flawless except for maybe one or two little things.
I mean, I'm sure anyone can relate to that stage feeling. When you do poorly, you feel way more nervous so you try to play it off. Though when trying to play it off, the "showsaver" might not work or could make a train wreck even more apparent, which is what we saw there. Don't tell me none of you guys had that feeling when going up in front of a class when needing to present or something, lol. ...Though purposely hardlocking the game at the end was kind of a dick move.

Yeah, uh, everyone loves a good witchhunt nowadays, but he seemed more socially awkward and inept than dangerous. This guy would benefit a lot from social interaction, not ostracizing. Shaming him and ruining him doesn't help anyone. Honestly, he needs friends and someone to sit down and talk with him about it. I guess nobody likes helping people and turning shitty situations into teaching moments nowadays. IMO that's a lot easier than ruining and shaming them.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Agreed
Also, can we just talk about that fantastic Tetris block? My goodness, I never get tired of seeing TAS-like play from one of the best players in the world. |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Not SGDQ related, but someone else posted a pretty decent Tetris 40 lines time, so here's my own PB in hopes that they'll see it.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
I'm sad I am going to be travelling during the Pokemon Puzzle League run.
That game was one of my staples as a kid.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Watched the rayman run and found out that apparently the game is almost impossible to complete on ps1 because there's two spots where you have to do a frame perfect jump.
(although the speedrun had a technique which meant it wasn't a problem) As if the game wasn't hard enough! Some of the cage spots seemed really awful as well, especially ones that were right at the end of screens. The runner said the game was more unfair than hard, which I totally agree with.

Vandal Hearts is a separate topic (but <3 this game) and Rayman easily slid into one of my top overall favorite games. I'm assuming the parts you watched were Pencil Penthalon (iirc the name) which was always harder than the last level. There are two specific jumps where you have to frame perfect them like you said, one on an oiled surface and you have to slide, jump, slide, jump, slide, jump and it was extremely hard because they all were frame perfect jumps, and then the other I forget but yes, 100% this post. When you got past the first dozen levels it started getting tough but the end 3-5 levels were monstrous and indeed nearly impossible to complete unless you sank a good 5 hours into Pencil Penthalon in itself haha.
