When those rules appeared, it seems like everything suddenly got worse.

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
I honestly remember FFR being a lot better back 5 years ago and I'm pretty sure people were more prickly back then then they are now. From what I can see people these days give a lot more of a shit when anybody says anything bad. Honestly, regardless of what anybody says foilman is right IMO. Forums and online communities in general have a certain level of assclownery. I think people just need to stop taking comments so seriously and chill out. If somebody says something you don't like just don't give a shit. It's the internet, you'll probably never meet anybody from this board and if you do it's probably because you think they're balling anyway.

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
this isn't about following the rules. To state this bluntly, it's about not being dicks to each other.

You people's standards are too high. FFR is fine. Deleting TGB won't do anything. Kbye.

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
Exactly. The rules themselves aren't the concern here at all. It's that people have this ridiculous mindset that dicking around is somehow worth it. That's what needs to change.

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
I highly doubt deleting TGB would do anything good really, in fact I think it'll probably cause more drama.
Deleting something big will always cause drama anyways. Also about the community, I admit that I'm not really in the community for too long but honestly all I can say is that everyone needs to just chill. I mean, if everyone's just cool with each other and won't take negative comments/criticism by heart I don't really think drama would happen. |

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
People being dicks to others? Are you guys being serious?
I think people need to suck it up and just roll. Making threads like this feeds the trolls. I think it's cute that people are trying to negotiate and figure out ways to make the forums a better place But let's face it.. it's probably not going to happen. You can create new rules or remove old ones all you want and you can sit here and argue with each other but your efforts are in vain. Some of you may look at my posts and be like "You're only from 2008, you only have blahblah posts, you don't know anything." I've been on enough forums to know how they can easily go down the crapper. As far as deleting the garbage bin, that won't change anything. It won't stop people from writing stupid posts, it won't stop trolls, it won't make people follow the rules. If people didn't follow rules from the beginning, I doubt they will start now. |

Now onto this situation......Its easy for people to blame "trolls" or whomever for the cause of the FFR forums going into a downfall, but tbh the people who are responsible are the ones who are responding to these kind of people in the wrong way. People now a days are taking shit WAY too seriously and to heart that it stirs up drama anytime there is even a hint of negativity posted on the site. So many people want FFR to be run as if it is a 20 person community like DF or TS where everyone gets along with each other and the staff doesnt have to work hard to do their job because everything is oh so happy and positive. Wake up call, this is FFR, it is a far more larger site with many more members and not everyone of those members are going to be on the same page. There is always going to be people who are going to start shit just for the fun of it, there is always people who will think opposite of what the majority thinks, there always will be these kind of people and there always have been. It is just recently how members are responded to these people is causing unnecessary drama all the time. Not pointing out members but there are plenty of times were even a simple comment like "I dont agree with this" or "I dont like this file" is taking way too seriously and completely blown out of proportion and starts a shitfit for no reason. If you guys really want to see a change in the community learn how to handle these things on your own and dont rely on the staff to solve all the problems. You will never get rid of people who will post like douchebags, nothing is ever going to be perfect, and responding to these people the way a lot of people are doing now is the reason why things are getting out of hand. Removing TGB isnt going to change anything. It was here when the site was in its "glory days", so its not the problem. That place is there for tards to post the way they do, deleting it is only going to bring them out onto the real forums and give you a reason to ban them just because you dislike them. Sure there are moments where they bring that shit onto the main part of the forums but guess what, you can stop it by you know, not responding to those posts, not posting in those threads, and just letting then mods come in and do what they need to do. tl;dr: Its not just the "trolls" or negative posters at fault here. How the community is handling negative posts/"trolls" is the reason things arent going the way you want. Nothing is ever going to be 100% positive, get that in your head. |

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
A large part of this is also that trolls are being taken far too seriously nowadays. Which is hilariously surprising since the average age of an FFR member has slowly been going up over time. Y'all need to grow up and learn that this is the fuccen internet. Most of us have vested a great deal of time within this site but god damn, if someone is trolling or says something you don't agree with, don't help sensationalize that post (and in turn derail the thread) by quoting it and pointing out why you think this person is a retard. That makes you look like a retard, and then the other person attempts to retaliate (or troll further), the original thread is successfully derailed, a shitstorm ensues, FFRdrama, popcorn.gif, and then ap comes along and pisses all over your ****ing bed.
Grow up, guys. I enjoyed coming here back in 06/07 largely in part to how intelligent most of the community was. If you're going to have an argument with someone in a thread, I'm sure most of you can find a way to keep things civil. And if someone's blatantly trolling, just ignore them geez. I see trolls as an important part of any community lmao, they remind you that shit shouldn't be taken seriously 24/7. Obviously there's a point where lines can be crossed but damn guys quit hatin' on some peeps so much ~_~ edit: lol mfw Plan posted right before me Also never delete TGB. I rarely ever post in there, but the average maturity level of the posters in that board is so much higher than everywhere else in the forums. Yes I'm being completely serious. edit2: wow I just read Plan's post, way to fuccen ninja me you ****muffin Last edited by One Winged Angel; 03-24-2012 at 12:09 PM.. |

I do want arguments and disputes in this thread, that way we can come to a compromise that helps everybody. I see now that deleting the Garbage Bin would indeed make matters worse, at least at first. Regardless of that, we still need to work on our responses to those Garbage Bin dwellers. Like I said, let this thread be the last one, and let it have the heated discussion we need to fix what can with what's wrong here. As for the TS dispute: Did we not just have a Christmas event with them, in attempts to bring us together? I mean yea, 1 event probably wouldn't bring two different groups together alone, but shouldn't it have started a chain reaction of events collaborating with TS to see if we can finally actually get along? I personally thought a huge portion of the TS/FFR problems were finished. Something we can do now is possibly create another event bringing TS and FFR together again. Also, like I've said before, we also need to work on bringing back that steady flow of newcomers. Let the newcomers hang out on this sight with good intentions, rather than with the thought of trashing others. We need to get ourselves out there again. In no way am I suggesting becoming a profit organization again, but I think we really should get ourselves moving.

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
protip:the community attitude hasn't changed for the worse its actually gotten better. The only difference is that the user count has gone down so everyone always sees the same faces on the forums
Deal with it. Anyone who says they're a troll isn't they're just jackasses who try to be the rebellious ones from the site but the only problem with that is that they're shit. I haven't been on tgb since ffya left but I'm sure that even though its shit it doesn't deserve to be delete. The great purge that happened wasn't even right but w/e. Everyone just needs to stop getting so but hurt bout everything. If someone calls you out either brush it off or report don't whine. You are all a bunch of sensitive nipple'd punk bitches. Grow some balls

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
@carlos, I view more than half the community as the sons and daughters of the so-called perfect nuclear family of the 1950s (a.k.a. internet nubs). That's a major problem considering these people tend to freak out as soon as the smallest thing goes wrong.
It's hilarious when you think about it. Some of the people that go out of their way to try and act as nice as possible on a regular basis are ruining the community haha. Then again, the vast majority of these people that try to act nice are actually retard plebeians that couldn't tell the dif-...lol you know what, I'm just not gonna go there ^_^ An obvious exception to this is someone like bmah or smitty. God damn, these two might just be the genuinely nicest people on here and they don't flip shit or get involved with drama when shit's going down. Take notes from these two. Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
solution
mods: take action on trolls and bullies and assholes, rather than sitting there eating popcorn. do NOT be afraid to hand out tons of 1-day or few-day bans. and delete useless troll posts, rather than entire arguments. users: don't mess with people who care about the game or are trying to better the community. they are better people than you, period, even if you don't like their personality. AJ/kayla/krunky/ichlie: stay in TS. not even kidding

woah woah woah
I said I wanted arguments and discussion, but I didn't mean things like that. If you're going to say something like that at all, could you please do that somewhere else? I want this thread to be as empty of that as possible, thank you.

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
it's not because I hate them, it's because they simply can't mesh nicely with FFR people or with FFR's environment. if they learn to fit in they are welcome back.

Re: We Can't Keep This Up.
The one thing I've gotten from this thread is that you all take what people say here far too seriously. You can't handle some people being douches sometimes? I wish Grandi was still around here, you'd all be exploding with fury. Some people are always going to be assholes. Trying to create some sort of utopian community isn't going to work.
EDIT: To be honest, I've never really noticed a problem. But Keywii! You're an asshole! Shit.
