Til Death screams "designed by a programmer" whereas rebirth actually has some pretty nice UI design in a lot of areas. absolutely no contest.

Nothing wrong with liking Til' Death, but Rebirth is designed quite a bit better.

Nothing wrong with liking Til' Death, but Rebirth is designed quite a bit better.

Rebirth is cleaning up the old UI to blend sort of like an arcade DDR, but still giving that raw info that the folks using Etterna are gonna want, and it gives the art in the pack more room to shine

I actually love it because it makes making backgrounds worth it again.

But it doesn't feel walmart as fuck

I agree it looks better, I just prefer Til’ Death’s simplicity. Til’ Death shoves everything you need to know about the song right in your face, when I tried Rebirth I had to look for it

I haven't gotten a chance to fully explore Rebirth but so far I REALLY like it

There was a period where I hated Til Death for how it looked but after switching to 4:3, tinkering with the color config a few times, and adding my own font, I really like Til Death now. However, I can understand why a new Etterna player would hate how the default Til Death looks. Rebirth does a great job at fixing this issue. My only complaint about Rebirth is that when I first saw it on a stream poco was doing a few months ago, it straight up looked like a mobile game, and it still does.

other than that, 4/5. default Til Death is a 2/5

rebirth is great for new user experience as til death wasn't so great. however since i'm very used to til death, i'm going to stick with it.

Rebirth is much more user-friendly compared to Til' death. But since I'm more used to Rebirth, I'll still use Til' Death.

what do people hate about til death? I hadn't been using it for a super long time when rebirth came out, but I thought it was really clean and i liked it more than the osu ui (idk how people feel about osus) and still like using it more than rebirth. maybe its not flashy with a bunch of icons but i feel like its really well proportioned and has a nice looking layout

Til death has been great for keyboard players for functionality but the information is placed with no consideration for hierarchy or purpose, the screen is cluttered with shit, the alignment is laughable... i could go on

Now if you like it that's cool, but if you look at any UI (music game or otherwise) that is worth anything at all you'll notice how information is placed strategically, with emphasis on important stuff first and then granular data tucked away or even hidden behind a button prompt. The choice of colors and fonts is also pretty important. OG etterna is very functional, awesome, but why fight against the improvement of the UI when the functionality is unimpacted?

Rebirth looks great, but I don't use it as I'm used to Til death's UI and have been for a while

I have my Rebirth customized all the stuff, it looks clean more of a streamlined feel. Til Death is a step above the Bare-Bones theme which both have their own appeal.
