Default [Solved] Computer has slowed down after update

Decided to post this on the FFR site so not sure if anyone knows what's going on here.

Few things I did.

1. I still have my Old Windows 98 (SE) HDD so I decided to hook it up to my Windows Vista Computer (Which included having my Vista HDD connected at the same time) to get some old data.

2. Update pops up... didn't really look at it. Restart computer.

3. Computer is now noticeably slower. Took some data, took out the old HDD... still slow.

4. Did a system restore, same thing. Still slow. (which means just about everything)

Anyone have any ideas? I have no idea how to fix this (and very tired).

I'm not an expert or anything, but a hard drive that old could have a virus you didn't know about on it.

Maybe.

If that were the case would it not show up on virus protection programs I have?

Sounds like it's time for an upgrade.

if there was a virus on the old HD i highly doubt it would have anything to do with the vista install seeing as you would have to somehow physically activate the virus again. idk what might be causing the slow down, but maybe you can elaborate on what exactly is going slow? might help.

edit: also it would have been a good idea to make the topic related to your post. it would have attracted the attention of those who would be more knowledgeable on this subject.
