Nah that'd be the equivalent of giving a new player a k120

Oh yeah, about the blue note files.

Eeeeeh...

Make them still playable somehow is all I ask for. CIA rave, while really dumb and just offsync, has a certain flow to it that I love tapping to, lol.

Same thing for Delirium (a file that was made just after blue note syndrome was being eased out).

They just need to be filtered out of the public song list by default imo. A player should actively be looking for them to play them for the nostalgia factor in order to find/play them. This prevents new players from stumbling upon these files and getting a poor impression of the game since they are on the low difficulty end and are likely to be among the files a new player will play.

Whats wrong with a k120? Best keyboard ive ever used. literally zero issues ever. Ive tried mech keyboards and they suck. The switches always break.

I'm pretty sure they do still count towards average rank, that's why I played all of them.

my switches have never broken on my mech, and I had a k120 that ghosted and didn't register keys on hard songs.

Yeah, looks that way. I was originally searching for Revolutionary Etude in levelranks but forgot that they turned that into the token lol.

lol must have had the wrong key setup. ive never had an issue with the k120 and ive gotten some pretty legit scores on 90s. low sdgs and near aaas.

Also, ive had 3 mech keyboards, all of which lasted less than 6 months each.

Damn I remember advocating for having these removed from public levelranks YEARS ago along with most other users and then the admins shit on us.

I don't even play this game anymore but the fact that the legacy songs are still considered normal levelrank is terrible lmao

For the R3 / Air Engine Legacy songs will be removed from the public list. They still continue to be available under "Alt Engine" selector for those wishing to play this part of the history.

Scores will record like normal and will continue to be part of the levelranks until more internal discussion is done, though public feedback is also important.

I love you guys right now. Let me put down my ideal checklist for legacy files for staff and community input:

Legacy out of view from new players, with easy access for those who care to play them
Legacy separated into new category, like alt engine dropdown

- Legacy files not counting towards average rank or tier points, ideally having a separate leader board setup to retain statistics.
- Initiative to push legacy judging batches, where v2's of legacy steps can be introduced into the actual game's ranks and main song list.

Don't keep them out of view. These files have special meaning to a lot of us, myself included.

Really, just a legacy category would do it. The only issue there is that some songs are tied to other things, like secrets and tokens. (Seriously, I still haven't managed to master hellbeat.)

I want the history preserved no matter how crap it might be compared to the new stuff.

Just my thoughts as the earliest member in the thread so far.

Please take a moment to look at the greater picture here. Your personal nostalgia should not have bearing on the progression of FFR in terms of quality and functionality. If you wish to still play them, that should be something that will be accommodated, but they absolutely shouldn't be treated like normal content. Imagine being a newer player and finding this ancient unsynced garbage in the game's normal song list. How much more of this crap is there? Is this what passes for files on this site? Should I bother playing a rhythm game that won't even bother syncing stuff right?

We already have a legacy genre, but as it does little to truly separate the files away from content which is properly synced and scrutinized, it really isn't good enough. I like the alt engine dropdown decision Velocity has mentioned. This will give very easy access to the legacy files for players interested, but eliminate the chance of people accidentally confusing those archaic steps for normal releases. After all of the hard work that has gone into improving the judgement process and engines, I can't justify bogging that down by keeping this stuff around like it's of even a remotely similar caliber.

History should be preserved, but in a manner that doesn't make FFR's default set list look like a crock of crap, or entice people to play poor quality files to improve their stats.

The way staff appear to plan on handling this should have absolutely no bearing on your personal ability to enjoy the content in question. On the rare occasion that you personally decide to play FFR, I'm sure the extra 2 seconds it will take you to flip on the legacy files won't matter at all. I can't imagine where we'd be today if we let nostalgia trump progress and innovation at every turn.

As a player whose only been on the site 10 out of the 15 years its been here, when i joined there were PLENTY of files on here to play. Amongst those files were the legacy ones which i actually enjoyed playing. They REALLY arent as bad as you guys are making them out to be. Its a good feeling when you AAA them, and an even better feeling when you get all of the lower level ones. I mean look at stuff like undici....that isnt any better. Its just as impossible as say Revo etude.
Seriously, they should be left alone or at least left in game.

A newer player isnt going to play terror from beyond and not want to play anymore because its off sinc. lol

Just have them all be in the Legacy Genre, and have the whole genre unlock when you unlock FFR Veteran status. Old players can still play them, new players can't until they unlock veteran, vet status means more.
