Best Smarphone Right Now?

I'm going to be eligible for a phone upgrade soon and was wondering if anybody has any input on which phones are currently better than others on the market. I'm coming from a Galaxy S3 which I really liked. Would the S4 be a good upgrade or is there something better?

HTC One (or One Max if you like 5.9" screens and more speed)
Galaxy S4
Nexus 5
Note 3
iPhone 5S (lol)

How about the LG G2. I've heard some good things about that. Still leaning towards the S4.

Nexus 5 is $299 without contract with a quad core snapdragon and 2GB RAM...

I looked at the Nexus but Verizon doesn't offer it =/

G2 is okay, but come on... LG isn't really known for making great quality phones... (see Optimus line-up)

Nexus 5 is nice overall but the battery life is very poor from what I've noticed. It runs out relatively quickly compared to the Nexus 4, but hopefully this will be fixed with a firmware update.

This is kind of an understatement, I've had one for 5 months and the battery life on it is still awesome.
