14 is proving to be a pain in the butt so far. Made it to "14..." and got what I needed, but it's not working.

EDIT: Made it to "14...." -- turns out what I was trying was right, but was translating more than I needed to.

EDIT: Found another hint screen from "14...." but not sure how to use it. Everything I try yields gibberish

Translating letters to numbers is a common thing in many online riddles

a = 1, b = 2, etc.

EDIT: Got it -- that was a total guess though. Why couldn't it have simply been that word by itself?

I finished the tutorial levels just fine, but I fear if I start with the main game I'll get too distracted and completely ignore my homework.

Rubix, how often have you had to use image editing programs with this so far? Those are overwhelmingly my weakness.

Quite seldom, surprisingly. Most of the time I've only used them to make pictures brighter. There's one or two riddles where you might have to overlay things or move pieces around, but there's nothing requiring crazy Color Table maps or channel-manipulation or EXIF-data, etc.
