I've only watched a few anime series' in my life. 2 were subbed (I was like you and didn't want anything to do with anything that wasn't dubbed) but they were surprisingly good. Attack on Titan is probably my favourite, you need to watch it especially if there's a dub coming. Even if it's subbed, I still recommend it, and Mirai Nikki was good too. No idea if Mirai Nikki is on the American Netflix list though.

Implying I would waste time thinking of a good insult for a secondary like Snowc.

How the hell does Netflix even afford to give such a wide selection for such a cheap price? I don't like the sound of it. I'd rather buy the DVDs/Blurays and help fund the producers directly, than spend money on a service that probably doesn't give back to the source.

edit: Attack on Titan is on Netflix, Mirai Nikki is not. If I had to suggest one over the other I'd say Mirai Nikki was better.

They have such a large subscriber base that any licensing fees they pay for the content are covered. The cheap price and convenience is what brings in so many people.

Izzy, how high quality are your downloads really?

I find anything below Blu-ray looks absolutely fucking horrendous on any screen with high enough definition to expose compression artifacts and signal noise.

I can't even watch DVDs on an HDTV without almost getting a migraine. They look great on SDTVs though. Netflix looks substantially better than anything I've ever seen on a modern PC flatscreen.

I don't know, you sound like you're pulling the quality thing out of your ass, unless you're just straight up pirating blu-rays. In which case, good job, that's how it should be done.

I see.

I'm not trying to say Netflix is horrible. My family still pays for it and I haven't objected, so there's really no reason for me to say it's complete garbage from the average watcher's view. But if you're only watching it for anime it seriously is crap.

edit: Izzy is fairly devoted to quality and has enough money to buy a screen that isn't complete garbage. I completely trust his opinion when it comes to conversations like these.

oh this is real. I opt for stuff like netflix and spotify because I find that legal streaming options are more convenient than illegal ones, and hey, not breaking laws is pretty cool. but I try to buy some music albums when I can, and if I start watching more anime then I'd like to do the same there. legal music streaming services basically give pennies in buckets to 99% of music artists.

on topic: Soul Eater is on (USA) netflix. I'm sure that's more in the casual realm but I <3 it

I've been eyeballing Soul Eater for a little while, but I tried for Madoka Magica because it's appArently very high rated, but I'm not sure if I'm up for a magical girl show

Has anyone brought up Chobits yet? It's on Netflix.

It's kind of a legendary show that pretty much everyone at least knows about, but it seems pretty shallow so far. Does it get more moving? Is it worth finishing for any real reason?

This is easily in my top five worst I've ever seen in my life. You could force me to watch if as sadistic torture

Contrary to those before me: Don't watch it.

It's shit. I watched it, thought it was shit, got told it was going to get better and continued only to find myself disapointed big time.

Good concept + unlikeable characters = Waste of time

Netflix has some really good stuff up lately

Attack on Titan, Trigun, FMA and FMA:BH, Welcome to the NHK, Eden of the East

Spice and Wolf is OK too although it feels like nothing ever happens in that show

I'm just about to start Hetalia because I remember it being super popular a few years back.

I got about halfway through Spice and Wolf when it originally aired in Japan, and I 100% agree that it feels like you're watching something on PBS: you're watching something, but nothing happens

pretty sure it's only popular with 14yo girls, but if someone tells me it has more substance than from what I expect, I'll add it to that so-called backlog.
