vBulletin 4.0
Just polling the masses here, but who would actually pitch in what they could if we had a community fundraiser to upgrade our forums to vBulletin 4.0? The one we have now is really outdated. I'd personally cover at least a quarter of the cost (hopefully).
Thanks Awesome features of VBULLETIN 4: https://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=features

Re: vBulletin 4.0
Sorry, forgot to add that haha. It would be $195 before tax for just the forum, as a new license. IIRC our license expired so we'd have to buy a new one!

Re: vBulletin 4.0
Alright yeah I'd definitely be down to contribute. If you do the fundraiser let me know if you need any help with it. I'd be glad to help.

Re: vBulletin 4.0
It would probably have to be done through Velocity or another admin, because after all it's their decision to upgrade or not haha. I was just seeing if we could actually make the money to do it. I'll talk to them though.

Re: vBulletin 4.0
I'm sure we could easily get the money to do it. It's not even that much.

Re: vBulletin 4.0
I think many of us would contribute if we had more reason. Being outdated isn't really a big deal, I think we'd need some more motivation. Nontheless I have a few $$$ I could chip in.

Re: vBulletin 4.0
What Oni said. I don't see anything wrong with the forums other than being an older version. You should possibly include some of the new features and what not in 4.0 in your OP.

Re: vBulletin 4.0
I could probably throw in some, as long as we knew for certain it was going towards this. Depending on what the need is that amount will vary.

Re: vBulletin 4.0
Sure, I can throw in some new features of vb4. As for the legitimacy of this, I think FFR has a paypal account. If not, I can make one that the admins have access to. Also, I'm talking to Velocity about perks received by donators for this. ~

Re: vBulletin 4.0
Even if we upgrade the forums to 4.0, is there going to be any noticeable change in the forums?

Re: vBulletin 4.0
I am supporting this idea, even though I am a bit hesitant. (Although, it seems absurd since my reasons are for the sake of nostalgia..) I've grown accustomed to how the forums function and how it is laid out. On the same note, I don't want to sound like an immature adolescent complaining and whining whenever YouTube or Facebook introduces change. I've been writing off-and-on on this forums for over three years, so I've grown to the nostalgic feel the current template gives me. Obviously, everyone would adapt to the new design very quickly, but It would make me feel not at home anymore.
However, I do agree that FFR needs a facelift, as the plans of a new website design have already been confirmed. This would be a great opportunity to be part of the new FFR Rebirth project to attract new users. I would love to see a preview of what the new forum would look like and what new features it would have to offer our user base. |

Re: vBulletin 4.0
Well I think it is time for a facelift -as PrawnSkunk mentioned- since there are plans to upgrade the rest of the site.
Also, this cap is of the FFR forums 3 months after I joined. |

Re: vBulletin 4.0
The site does need a facelift, but I don't think it needs that much new features. I wouldn't pay to upgrade.

Re: vBulletin 4.0
I have to agree with MarioNintendo. The forum looks fine as it is however if the majority of the FFR community really wants an upgrade done then by all means get it done.
Also, I do not mind paying for the whole thing. I can afford it.
