Default Supplement Thread

Eyo /fit/ or something like that

Lets talk supplements. What are your daily supplements and experiences with them?

I personally supplement 30g whey protein powder as well as 5g creatine monohydrate daily, post-workout. (and also on rest days, of course.)

Let me know what you guys are currently supplementing.

Protein and that's really it. The actual effects of creatine are pretty negligible to be honest. I've taken creatine many times in the past and have noticed little difference, or at most, the effects were placebo. I know this because upon discontinuation of creatine, I saw no loss in strength or overall performance.

Northstrong doesn't really feel anything from creatine either.

I've tracked most of my workouts and supplements in a document over the last two years and in that time I've been on and off creatine a few times.

I can say with great consistency that my weight goes up about 3-4 lbs ~1 week after starting creatine.

Also, I lose about 3-4 lbs when I come off creatine. AFAIK this means I am definitely someone that responds as intended to creatine.

Adding creatine appears to add at best 1 additional on most major compounds (especially bench press) after being on it for about 2+ weeks. It's hard to tell if it was just an effect of bulking or not, but it appears to be extra on top of what I gained normally.

Coming off of it appears to cause no loss in strength. Every time I've always gained or maintained strength on all compounds.

Anecdotal verdict? Strength gain is minimal and appears to be a passive gain of about 1 rep over several weeks that isn't lost if you come off. Whether or not the passive gain stacks though over time I cannot tell. Seems unlikely to be significantly more than a rep gained here and there over months of bulking.

And it causes you to gain a couple lbs of water consistently.

- whey protein 150g every other day
- opti-men multivitamin
- zinc
- vitamin b6/b12 although this is usually just in shit I drink if not in the multivitamin
- occasionally sudafed, although this is just for appetite suppression

and various other drugs, recreational and not, that stretch the definition of 'supplement' and probably are against the rules of this forum to discuss openly

I think once I get going I am going to take fish oil capsules and whey protein. I'll get a multi if my diet is sufficiently suboptimal (some foods I have a hard time forcing myself to eat, like yogurt, but I'll work on it).

I'm honestly torn on creatine. I am leaning towards abstaining, at least for now.

This. Also, no noticeable changes in strength for me either.

To my understanding creatine really only increases the maximum fluid retention within your muscles. Hence the weight gain, but little to no strength gain. Water/glycogen does not = strength, just like water/glycogen does not = fat/muscle. It's simply another variable in your weight as well as an energy store (giving you that extra rep) for your muscles to recruit from.

Would an extra rep not mean increased strength, though? Well in my opinion, not necessarily. For example; your energy level plays a huge part in your overall performance in the gym. You may do incredibly well in the gym one day, yet poorly in the gym the day after. It's pretty much impossible that you've lost any overall strength over the course of one day, so it's pretty easy to determine what the cause of your overnight strength loss is.

That's just some sickening bro-science for you though.

Get ready for the facepalms...

I'm sponsored by RSP, but formerly sponsored by Inzer and BlueStar. So my supplement stash is pretty insane. I mean insane...

Anyways

3 times a day 2 pills of Uni-Liver
Pre and Post w.o. Bluestar Power & Bluestar Amplify
If I'm on a time constraint 2 scoops of Muscle Juice 2544, (but I like my protein from whole foods)
All day I sip on RSP GlutaGen mixed with RSP ReGen.
Intra Workout I sip on Cytomax mixed with Xtend.
Evening 1 animal-pak, 2 Anogenin, and 3 generic Fish Oil.

For preworkout I'm currently using Black Stone Labs, Angel Dust.

If only because I wouldn't even make room for all of those supplements in my home, let alone use them lol

Yea that was a challenge. I recently moved, and moving my current supplement stash was the hardest part, I tend to "collect" supplement. But lately I've been just giving away a lot of the stuff I wasn't sponsored.
