Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
I have a horrible scissor switch imac computer that I loathe with all my heart. I'm looking for a cheap mechanical keyboard that is best suited for rhythm gaming/FFR. Any experts out there care to share the best keyboard I can strive for?

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
Its all preference, I couldn't get used to a flat keyboard because I've been using bulky ones too long. Have any of you guys tried a steelseries 7g? It's pretty damn sexy feeling.

Im using a Razer Black Widow Ultimate 2013, Which runs MX Cherry Blue's. I feel like it did me well over the past 8 months, improved accuracy and i love the feel. I personally feel like i would do best on reds. FFR/SM only, ill keep the blues for everything else.
Staiain had this to say in a previous thread.

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
If you are wanting a mechanical you are going to be dishing out at least $80 for one, but even with mechanical it all comes down to preference like any keyboard. If you are getting a mechanical though give blue or brown switches a try first since they seem to be the more preferred switch type among players.
Also dont buy into the whole k120 thing, its fine if you need a cheap kb to hold you over, but its just another typical membrane switch kb. There are a lot better options out there for around the same price or for a few more bucks. |

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
Not sure what you'd consider cheap because mechanical gaming keyboards are far from that, lol. Brown or blue switches are the most preferred among the community so go for those.
I'm currently using a CM Storm Quickfire Pro with browns and so far it seems to be really superb for timng.

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
Am I weird in that, of all the keyboards I've played on, I prefer and score best with the dollar store membrane keyboards the most?
My old shitty laptop keyboard served me much better than my friend's Black Widow Ultimate (blue switch mechanical) for rhythm gaming. idk, I can see why the K120 has a fanclub haha

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
I appreciate all the responses! This brings a lot for thought, especially since Hi19 uses typical membrane keyboards... Well.. ALSO!! I'm running a mac, and the k120 isnt supported on mac. Any more suggestions for a good one with mac compatibility?

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
If you're spending $80 on a free rhythm game you either make bank or have a problem
Buy a sample set that comes with one of each switch to try. It cost like 8 dollars and it will give you an idea of what each one will play like

Yeah it's all about preference. You'll always get better with practice regardless. I personally preferred a non-mechanical kb when I went through d1-3. After that I switched to a mechanical and my boost in skill has been quite stellar. I use a qpad mk50

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
buy this first
http://www.amazon.com/Max-Keyboard-K.../dp/B00E71W4O8 also another thing to take into consideration is whether you want tenkeyless or a full kb. tenkeyless are usually cheaper

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
That looks like the absolute perfect thing, but how does it work? I have an iMac so i dunno if that's compatible considering there's no cord and no indication as to whether or not it is wireless or bluetooth.

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
I was under the impression that it was self explanatory. It doesn't function like a keyboard. Its just the keys, no chord, no wireless, no anything other than you pressing the key.
Even tho i own a MX Cherry blue, im going to buy this thing for reference now.

Re: Perfect mechanical keyboard for FFR?
I've been using my Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition which is a tenkeyless version of the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate (that clasko1000 is talking about) for almost a year now. Personally, I do like the feel of the keyboard. It has Cherry MX Blue keys, and I find that the clicky feature of the blues helps me with my timing. It comes down to personal preference though, but you'd want to start with browns or blues.
He's right you know...
