So I bought my computer...
I really just wanted to buy one, so instead of building it myself which I found out would end up costing me a shitton for shipping/duties, I just went and bought a decently nice Asus. I will custom build my gaming desktop next year.
So far I love it. Asus G75V series: •Intel Chief River i7-3630QM 2.4GHz Turbo up to 3.4GHz •16GB DDR3 system memory •1TB hard disk drive •15.6” HD with LED backlight •Windows 8 (64bit) •2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M ~1800 with tax... http://www.staples.ca/en/ASUS-173-La...1_2-CA_1_20001 I know I could've gotten better building, but I really just couldn't wait lol.

Re: So I bought my computer...
light gaming and school. I was looking at similar laptops online that would cost me about 1600 after taxes and shit, with a 1gig vid card Nvidia 660, and only 8 gigs of ram.
Oh and its Canada. Nothing is cheap here lol

Also Staples is kind of an awful place to buy laptops from. Also the page says it's 17.3", while saying in other places it's 15.6". Which is it?

Re: So I bought my computer...
Could have just gotten a top of the line desktop + a moderate laptop for the same price.

Re: So I bought my computer...
Yeah, But I can also get a top of the line desktop in a year. This is my schooling laptop I didn't want to cheap out. Got to last me 4-5 years, my last 700 dollar laptop lasts like 2 years before it crapped out.

Re: So I bought my computer...
Because laptops are crap. That's why you don't spend tons of money on them and use it for a long lasting desktop instead.

Just saying, putting those parts in a desktop would have saved about 800 dollars (btw if you walk into a microcenter they'll have your stuff to pickup, no delivery costs) edit: 800 if you get deals on some things. besides, with an intel youre shelling out more than i'm used to, so i guess with no deals maybe around 600 excluding a nice monitor, kb, speakers, etc) |

Re: So I bought my computer...
The only good laptops (in gaming relation) are macs.
Windows however rapes mac in games overall (like for towers and whatnot) Then again, what I am saying could turn into a huge controversy or whatnot. So blah blah blah blah blah.

Laptops that aren't built to last? It's a conspiracy!
Good luck with your laptop bud. Keep the warranty |

Re: So I bought my computer...
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?! D:
Anyway, laptops are amazing if you get the right ones. I love having desktop capabilities that I can carry around with me. inb4 lol not even close to desktop Intel i7, GTX 670M, 16GB RAM, 2 64GB SSDs (RAID0) + 750GB HDD Had a decent desktop before... quad-core... but this thing destroys it 50 times over and it has more features, amazing battery, blu-ray, and I can take it with me wherever. I don't have the same laptop as you but seeing all these posts about desktops being elite and whatnot is annoying. He said it was for school, so I assume he needs to take it with him, and if he can afford it then there shouldn't be any issues. Mine was $2200+ after being shipped from NCIX and I have no regrets about it at all.

He emphasized duties and shipping because he lives in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, which ups the cost a lot.

Re: So I bought my computer...
Thank you! My sisters tower was 1800 bucks, cost 200 for tax and another like 300 for duties.
