Fei Longer [9 or 10]
I'm surprised this one hasn't been mentioned yet.
I'll present some statistical data first. Fei Longer Difficulty: 9 Release Date: 12-14-08 Song Length: 2:19 Number of AAAs: 129 Number of FCs: 748 Turbulence Difficulty: 10 Release Date: 02-26-05 Song Length: 1:32 Number of AAAs: 387 Number of FCs: 2,049 Starlight Difficulty: 10 Release Date: 09-05-08 Song Length: 2:16 Number of AAAs: 226 Number of FCs: 1,401 Turbulence's difficulty is sketchy since the difficulty rating was back from the avmiss days, where the file was obviously much more difficulty to score on because of the glitch. Turbulence basically just has a few minijack transitions that aren't too bad to handle, and it does a good job of avoiding one-handed minijacks. Starlight takes it to another level and has some longer jacks with some notes ending on the same hand, but still manageable. These parts are also short-lived. Fei Longer, however, has an ending with very long jacks. Like the statistical data shows, this file is harder to FC than Starlight and Turbulence. It requires some decent jacking control, too - it's not just all straightforward. Starlight basically has straightforward rhythms while Fei Longer has some jacks leading into short 32nd bursts or some gaps that aren't straightforward, such as shown below: Of course there are several other transitions, not just this one. With this being said, it's pretty hard to FC for a 9 when you have 10s like Starlight and Turbulence. |

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
Also plus one. I have starlight and Turbulence AAA'd and a BF on Fei Longer, i think. The patterns are definitely not straightforward and pretty hard for a 9 lol
Just my 2 cents

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
I feel like I can't objectively rate this very well since I suck so bad at jacks, but this is a clear cut 10 for me. The jacks are long and utilize both hands extensively.

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
+99999... to this. I shouldn't be getting around 20-30 goods on a 9 when I have a good amount of VC AAA's. I know there is some subjectivity in my vote for a 10 since I suck at jacks, but I've seen VC jack files that are easier than Fei Longer, so I vote 10.

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
hmmm.. I could see this being a 10. It is similar in difficulty to starlight.

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
I have always though if Starlight was a 10 then Fei Longer should be one as well. It took me a lot longer to AAA Fei Longer than Starlight.

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
I could see this change being made.
When being compared to Starlight, this should be a low VC as well. Or we can move the other jacky VCs down to match Fei Longer, that's also an option.

Changed the difficulty to a 10. I'll leave this thread open for a short while if there are any objections; otherwise, it'll be locked shortly afterwards.

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
I think that Fei Longer should stay as a 9 and Starlight should be moved down, but whatever, now there's 2 VCs I'm good at :)

Remember dude, you need reasonings for the posts you make in this subforum.

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
Sorry, I haven't played many of the higher difficulty songs so it's hard to come up with evidence for different patterns, so I am thinking it's a 9 in relation to other 9s. There are only about 10 9s I can decently pa, so I just thought it was odd I was able to score so well on this one and starlight. Maybe jacks are just something I'm good at, so if most of the people here think the jacks in these two songs are VC stuff, I'm fine with that.

Re: Fei Longer [9 or 10]
That's the reason why you need to be objective as possible. While each person may have their own individual strengths and weaknesses, they're pretty anecdotal though when it comes to arguing for or against a difficulty change. What you would need are physical reasons that would make such a chart difficult, such as describing the patterns of the chart.
In this case, it appears that jacks are, according to the majority of players, in general difficult to hit. I would presume the same goes for trills, even though I personally don't find them all that bad. So basically if you just snoop around and listen to what people have to say about various songs, you'll figure that certain patterns are generally regarded as easier/more difficult than others. Then you can base your arguments off of those factors. That's how I would go about looking at a song fairly. See if you can figure out why some of the other songs you've played were easier or harder than others. It'd not only help your reasonings for this thread, but it'd also help you understand and become better at FFR too. Hope that helped. Last edited by bmah; 03-20-2012 at 12:30 AM.. |
