I'll walk you through this.
What regular user who enjoys watching anime and takes the personas of several main characters for secondary forum names could possibly be using yet another anime character and her persona? Three guesses. |

When I say 'regular', I mean 'veteran'.
Awesome, but not awsome. |

Scenario I envision:
Annoying poster: I'm a douchebag-su. Other people: That's pretty annoying. Don't do that again. Annoying poster: Shut up-su. Moderator: We gave you a warning. */ban Keeps it simple, non-abusive, and still keeps retards away. |

But seriously, when I first started posting here, I wasn't anywhere as bad as some of the idiots I see these days. Like that thread for War Rock in GVG, there's one guy with a few hundred posts that is being a total douche, not spelling, being so wrong grammatically wrong it makes him incoherant (and you guys oughta know how un-picky I am about grammar), and most importantly, being a total douche (calling people noobs for not liking the game he's posting about). On the other hand, there's some guy with <100 posts making well thought-out and coherant posts with good spelling and all that. People tried telling the douchebag newbie to use good grammar and he's like JEEZ GUYS ITS JUST A FORUMS LOL NOOBS and people tried to explain that yes, it's a forum and not a chat, but he won't change. I gave him a final explaination, and told him that I'm basically just skimming over his posts now cuz they're incoherant, but that the other newbie's posts I actually read. After this I'm just ignore him unless he at least tries to make his posts look readable. I think that's the best thing. Give them some warnings, then just ignore them when they post. Like that kid who keeps posting pictures with all their posts. Who cares? It's just like a unique sig for each post. Do you guys freak out when you see my sig at the end of my posts? No. Just treat it as such and ignore it. If somebody is typing horribly and being stupid and incoherant, give them warning and then COMPLETELY IGNORE THEM. They come here seeking people and interaction and, quite likely, acceptance into this little group. If we completely ignore them, they will be deprived of all of that, and they'll only see us having a jolly good time. Then they'll remember that we warned them at first, they'll change their ways, and come back better than ever. I only advocate this as opposed to ripping into them because some of these new people are stubborn and because most people don't respond well to direct criticism. More indirect methods are what REALLY get to people, so give them the cold shoulder. That said, I think a lot of the regulars here have a lot of growing up to do. Many of you repeat the same mistakes that other people make and are very hypocritical. I'm talking about things like posting in a topic just to tell somebody that they are off topic. Or, and this really pisses me off, posting in threads other people make about games and saying they suck but then getting pissed off and fussing whenever somebody comes into the Maplestory thread and says the game is retarded. The thread isn't OMG THIS GAME IS GOOD LET US ONLY PRAISE IT, it's about the game, and if what that person wants to say about the game is negative, THEY HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO SAY IT. Also, the 50-post picture-posting rule gets broken 24-7 and then people spend 5 pages discussing how they shouldn't post pictures. Personally, I think being off-topic by fussing at the person is worse than the person posting pictures, because when I look at PYP I want to see 1) pictures, and 2) funny comments about those pictures. My main point is, a lot of you are stupidly hypocritical much of the time. I try to always be on topic, ALWAYS. If I feel like making a rant or a comment on something somebody said, I always say something on-topic in my post too, and THEN diverge to whatever (semi-)off-topic discussion I may wanna jump into. I see so many of you posting wayyyyyy off-topic, and half the time it's to tell somebody that they're breaking some sort of rules. I find it hypocritical and I shake my head every time I see it. I swear, if I was a mod, I would edit so many posts pointing out the hypocrisy, because as a regular forum user, I'm not just gonna go around posting to tell people they're being dumbasses, because it's be hypocritical in itself. I'll sometimes point it out after posts, but damn, guys, you are wrong A LOT and I just can't keep up. PS: Sorry if I came off as kind of an ass. Everybody has their thing that they're picky about. Example: Squeek freaks out about grammar. I freak out about people being on topic, mainly because I hate going into a topic expecting one thing and finding all sorts of crap about how some newb shouldn't be posting pictures because they only have 4 posts or how some newb isn't allowed to say a game sucks in his opinion.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

Wow noah why don't you spend more time doing your physics and java homework instead of typing out 6 paragraph responses to an internet thread lmao

Way to illustrate his point, Eva. I don't think I can find anything more iconic.
At eb: Dude. This is why I like you. ![]() People seem to give me a hard time whenever I post here again because I take breaks from the internet. I admit, i screwed up in my past because the first time, I happened to do it in the "I AM NEVER COMING BACK ;_;" type manner. I think every time since then, I've just sort of stopped posting for awhile. Sometimes, it's because I just get fed-up with the immaturity of the so-called mature people on the forums, but mostly, it's just because I take long breaks to venture out in the real world and try to better myself. I think everyone should try it some time. You can learn a lot. I'm tying that in to what eb said. Elitism is pretty silly. The number of posts someone has doesn't make them any better in any way than anyone else. |
