Default There is an advertisement on the banana that I am eating.

There is an advertisement on the banana that I am eating.

It reads:
"Delicious creamy taste in every spoonful!
KOZY SHACK Pudding
In the Dairy Aisle"

Am I the only one who is getting sick of this commercialized, capitalist society where all people care about is money and where a person's worth is based solely on the income he makes?

I'm sure Q is.

What's wrong with advertisment? It helps sales. You noticed it, so it works.

Morals and economies do not mix, nor can they ever.

I thought Q was the type to praise the evils of capitalism.

Take that communist way of thinking back to Soviet Russia!

Actually, I also dislike a society where your worth is based by how much money you have. I was listening to a conversation my dad was having with my mom the other day about how our country is so wrapped up in having wealth and putting all this value on beauty that the world could be falling apart outside our borders (and i suppose you could say it is) and nobody would care as long as they had their "pimped out" cars and their iPods in their ears. Maybe i'll go live in Europe or something when i'm older..

How did they put an advertisment on the banana anyway? On a sticker? I've never seen an advert on a banana before..

You're just now expressing your exhaustion with the capitalism that has been consuming our society? It's been obvious ever since the marketing of perscription drugs that we are only units of money.

There once was a man who thought the very same thing. Ironic thing is, he proved himself wrong. Wrote a really spiffy book about it, too. It's called The Wealth of Nations. You should read it sometime.

And, Karl, I do believe that people are worth more than their income. That's why I talk to you still.

See you show anger towards "uncultured *#%$*#%$*#%$*#%$s", yet I don't see you doing anything about it and why post on a forum in which many people that are uncultured are here. Now on to the subject at hand. No jewpin you aren't alone. I am sick of it too, but it doesn't affect the decisions I make at all and that won't change. Taking into consideration i'm going to enlist in the future and those jobs don't make alot of money depending on who you are.

Whiteflame, my entire point was that what jewpin was mentioning is untrue. People are not valued by their income much at all. In fact, if they're value is measured in any one way whatsoever it's by their happiness (in economics it's called "utility", something very hard to measure) which can be oft measured by expenditures (which are often limited by income, but credit has changed that quite a bit).

Once more, I would like to point out that his comment is untrue based on this one concept: "I talk to you online." I know none of you (exception being aperson) really have much money. I'm fine with that. I still would love to spend a day hanging out with Jewp. This is called the principle of revealed preference. It suggest that what people really choose reflects almost exactly what the econometrics predicts.

And econometrics and revealed preference both say that you guys are wrong.

uh... Q... since when are friendships and relationships influenced by money anyway? That was a pretty poor example.

People choose what they think will make them happier than any alternative choices of which they are aware. That's a basic assumption of economics, and makes a certain amount of sense.

A) that was his point.
B) friendships and relationships are always influenced to some extent by money in some way(the difference in class between two people in a relationship as measured by income is the most obvious thing that comes to mind).
C) I'm assuming you weren't being undetectably sarcastic in your afro-way.

This is misleading as you leave the operator(s) hidden... while the government economists might not assess a given individual's value via their income, a given individual judging another given individual may very well do so. In fact it's probably quite common that individuals value others based partially but significantly on the income that those others make. A man envious of a co-worker for receiving a raise, for example.

Anyone want to move to Iceland with me and my older bro? It'll take a few years, but cool summers, warm winters, 0% fossil fuel consumption, hydro and geothermalpower, hot springs, booming tech industry... it's like heaven on an island!
