In the modern age, is it wrong to have sex with your sister?
We first must overcome the fact that we do not become sexually attracted to those we spent our early childhood with, so if you imagine a sister who was seperated at birth. Now we must overcome the reason for this sibling non-attraction; the fact that genetic diversity is the goal of a species and individual. Close relatives having children can cause concentration of harmfull mutations, and increases the susceptability of the group to parasites. It's this fact that has caused the incest laws to be created. Of course in our modern world sex is not used for procreation. Sex is becoming as much a hobby as hiking, or stamp collecting. You do it because you enjoy it, and actively look to prevent the actual act of conception. So if you imagine that you are reunited with a sister that you were seperated from at a very early age, and you both consented - if you used effective contraception, would it be wrong to have sex? (And if it's crossed your mind, No, i have never committed incest, and i do not plan to.This is purely thought related)

If you were in the situation, it wouldn't matter to you givin the circumstances. To you it would be a possible person to have a relationship with because you hardly know this person, or knew they existed.

As long as it's consensual and there is active use of effective contriception, I don't see how it really matters.
And it's no one else's business, either. Sure, some people might be offended to know that things like that go on, but some people are also offended by people having pre-marital sex of any kind. It really doesn't matter.

But if there was no form of contriception, would that make it wrong? I've already said in Omega's thread that the idea of what is right or wrong is just an opinion, but I'd like to hear yours.
As long as the two people love eachother, does it really matter? EDIT: Quote:

I always thought the very idea of having sex, or even having feelings to a relative was just revolting, of course.
Right about untill I watched a documentary about two first cousins who were deeply in love. The didn't know each other before they met at about 17. I didn't really watch it all but it made me start thinking, what's so bad about having a relationship with a family member? I am almost positive the laws and the very theory about mutilation and stuff is all very faux. I don't have a fact to back myslef up, but I think that was just bad analogy. Like, they said it was true without really reaseatching it? Look it up.. Anyways, the story was kind of sad. Here were two people, completely burdened with a loveless life, and then they met each other.. they were soul mates. The world just refused to actually take that into mind. All they could see was two blood-related people engaged in a relationship. It's so cruel not to understand that they loved each other...what else should matter?

They had a Law and Order episode where this guy was dating someone who turned out to be his sister (because of an affair and whatnot, very interesting show).
The guy puked and wanted to kill himself after he found out he had kissed, dated, and had sex with his sister. However it's interesting that everyone that said it's ok also stated that they wouldn't do it at all. Right and wrong are based on opinions and yet if no one would do it themselves, then that must mean that they truly think that it is wrong and therefore there should be laws against it. You can't justify something if you wouldn't do it yourself IMO. Therefore you can't say having sex with your sister is ok if you wouldn't even contemplate the idea yourself. However I think afro makes the best logical point. While I don't agree with it personally, what two people do to themselves really shouldn't be anyone's business. Only if someone was being hurt would any type of law need to be implimented. That would seem to be the best course of action as far as a general rule to go by. |

Is it wrong? Depends on cultural upbringing, views. Is it technically wrong? I don't think it is. Sex is a natural thing. There is the woman and man and that's all there is to it. Semantics are just, that.
Would I consider doing such a thing if I had a sibling of opposite sex? I don't know, most of the time it's all emotion driven. You can say whatever you want now but still may do the opposite in the end. |

Wow my first post in CT has to be about this. . .
Dude IMO I think it's wrong to have sex for any reason than out of love. So if you two fell in love which would be awkward . . . yea. why in the bloody bajezus would you think about something like this.

I didn't. 8) I'm not a lesbo (I don't even like my sister), and I don't have a brother. Ah, well. I guess it's not as abormal nowadays. I know a long, long time ago it wasn't unusual because they married siblings/relatives to keep bloodlines pure. I dunno, it just seems kind of awkward to do so. It kind of sparks a first-reaction of "ewww", but I guess if you really love someone....you really love someone.

Well, it would only spark the reaction of "ewww" because you grew up with them. I'm sure if you didn't know them you'd certainly react differently.
