The first time I run through a simfile with any bpm change I always go xmod, just to see if the author did anything cool. Usually, however, (after those first few times) I play files on cmod too. If I'm gonna post a score of a song with mines / bpm tricks, I see no sense in doing nomines / cmod though.

Oh, and wtf @ Genocide.

I'd also like to add that I hate mines, too.

There's a reason that cmodded scores aren't stored on ITG machines. bpm tricks are there for a reason. Believe it or not, not all of the difficulty in a file comes from the arrows a lone. Some of it comes from your ability to read the notes and handle freezes and changes as well as to avoid mines. If you turn any of them off you are not playing the file at the difficulty it was intended to be played at, and thus your score has no credit.

But in the VAST majority of files (or at least the ones I play) that IS all the difficulty comes from. If the marjoity of files had BPM tricks/mines (and I don't mean just randomly halving the BPM, I mean like Growth Grass style tricks), then I'd never turn them off and accept them as part of the game--but as far as I'm concerned, since they generally aren't used, there's no point in me learning them, so I leave them off.

Not to say that I'd never to try to deal with those things once in a while just for fun, but my main way of playing any song will be C700/NoMines unless I start to play a LOT of files with BPM tricks and mines.

Half the reason I make my files now is to insert difficulty in areas people aren't used to, and it's ******s like you who try to homogenize it into the other ****ty tripe that's released by destroying what in the file gives it it's difficulty.

Wahhh, I suck at doing something so I'm going to remove it... How retarded.

I did a negative BPM padfile once. It's really tricky to get it right =/
