Default I have a speech in one hour!

I have to speak in front of my graduating class:

We take a leap of faith today. Some of us do so with tears, some of us with smiles…..perhaps even a careless shrug. But what is certain is that each and everyone of us, whether parent or child, has undergone some kind of transformation. From crawling children we have become noble gears in society...(pause)...ready, energized, and prepared to tackle the future. today we cross the boundary, after today our lives truly become our own.

We have endured 13 years of education, blossomed from the seeds of innocence, peered a glimpse into the minds of our teachers. For some, it has been a luxury, a comfortable schedule of support. For others, it has been but a brooding period, an incubation of the potential to be unleashed in our future. For all of us though, school has become dissolved in our spirit, and our completion of public education strengthens that resolve.

Now let us reflect on a period of time when life seemed far too simple, when this moment seemed but a star in the sky. We began a journey then, an epic odyssey now forever ingrained in our characters. This journey, filled with heartbreak…(pause)…happiness…(pause)…and even homework, has forged our cores; welded our fates piece by piece. This journey is life, and it does not end today. Rather, this endeavor complexifies, enriches with the spices of responsibility…(pause)…independence…(pause)…adulthood. Each of us will become distinguished, unparalleled, unique.

As we diverge from the academic paths that we have trekked all our lives, a new world will descend upon us. This is a world where each of us as individuals determine our satisfaction as human beings. This is the time to reach for your goals, and reach hard my friends, for success in life is not measured by a grade report or a 4 digit test score. No, now is the time to truly discover a life that holds the purest of happiness, to fulfill your dreams, to ride the waves of destiny and never regret looking back.

My experiences in high school have taught me the value of realizing a life without the hindrance of regret. The words of my good friend Kathleen say it best, “I have lived thousands of days, infinite minutes, but my only regret is having counted them all.” As we take the next stride in developing our legacies, reflect upon what you have learned and what you will never forget. Let the memories breakthrough, for it is the memories which create immortality.

I present myself to you today, 18 years of age, transformed from the child of eras before. Everyone here has also undergone a transformation, whether a metamorphosis of character, or an enlightenment of mind. Whether we celebrate an end today, or whether we elaborate on a new beginning, embrace yourself.

We take a leap of faith today my friends, let us take it together.

change "leap" to "squat" and it's more accurate.

Not bad. The graduation speech at my school this year was pretty much the same thing, but you said it fairly well. It might be wordy enough to get a few scoffs, though. At least it's short- the speaker two years ago took forever. She was some really smart girl, but she kept going on about how the rest of your life is ahead of you so don't waste it blah blah blah.

Good luck, hopefully it won't rain.
