What makes a good, solid friendship, how are they formed, and what do you think are important circumstances of the realtionship? Do you believe friendship is mutual? How so? I believe that a friendship is mutual and I think that all friendships must endure hardships. I think that friends support each other in times of need and actually care about your ideas and your personality. What do you think?
O_o PS: Sorry if this isn't CT material. Mods can move this topic if it is too kiddish. I only posted it here because I want serious answers. Thanks.

Ultimately, it depends on the kind of friendship you want. I have friends who I joke around with, intellectual friends, gamer friends, party friends... etc.
I think you're leaning towards the 'best friend' area. I think #1 you need trust / honesty... that's a biggie in any meaningful relationship. And yes, I'd have to agree that it must be mutual. I think it's also important that you respect and care about eachother's ideas, even if you don't agee with them (EX. my best friend is a mormon- we're complete opposites in that regard). However, I don't think it's necessary to endure hardships, although that is a way of strengthening the bond and testing the friendship. Let you know who your 'real' friends are. P.S. I think it's CT worthy. |

Bonding moments help. Those times when you guys are.. For example watching some comedy, or action. Or even playing a video game, and you guys just talk about what you think is and isn't. Or you tell them about your past. Those tiny moments hold a friendship together. But not only those, but what also holds them together is the personalities you both have.

The way friends meet i believe, is merely by coincidence. You find someone you like, who has similar interests, and you get interested. THEN.... you start looking into his/her character, and that what determines a distant friend, or a true friend.
I've found over the time that I thought some people were really my friends. But they weren't there when I really needed 'em. I think best friends are based on sacrifice. How much they're willing to sacrifice for YOU. And yes, friendships are mutual relationships. Sometimes you support them, sometimes they support you. Sometimes you take the fall, sometimes they do. |
